I only know what I've been working for: another you so I could love you more Who: Austin and Kai Where: Wonderland When: Late morning
Wednesday morning wasn't really the hot time to hit up an adult store, which left Kai with not that much to do. No customers to wait on or any psycho people trying to hit on her. Just because she worked with sex toys didn't mean she was into all of this... though that new order of vibrators looked like fun. No lies there. Though now wasn't the time to put them to use and instead she was stocking the shelves with said items. Thankfully her boss wasn't going to be in until noontime, so Kai was pleased with taking her time.
Actually, she was the only one in the store, meaning she had full control of the radio being played as well. Kai turned it to some local rock station and cranked it up while she went about her work. Always more productive when there were some good tunes playing. Her dress flowed while she swayed her hips from side to side in time with the music, all while placing more boxes onto the shelves. Kai tended to dress up a little bit for work, if anything just to be eye candy. A flash of skin never hurt anyone, and it sure as hell sold the flavored condoms at the cash register when she was ringing people up.
Kai had invited Austin to visit her at Wonderland some time, so today was as good of a day as any. He didn't have to be in the shop until early afternoon, so he had some time to kill after dropping Grace off at Little Miracles. He walked into the shop, hearing the rock music blaring before he even opened the door. Looking around, he spotted Kai shaking her ass in a cute black and white dress. A sexy smile spread over his lips as he sauntered over to her, putting his hands on her hips and drawing her back into him. "Hey, gorgeous," he murmured in her ear, barely resisting the urge to nip at her earlobe with his teeth. Kai was a weakness for him. The girl was gorgeous with her tattoos and piercings and general sexiness. They'd met a couple of weeks ago, right after he moved into town and had hung out a couple of times, the sexual tension between them palatable.
The second she felt someone touch her and whisper into her ear, Kai's eyes flared up and her emotions skyrocketed to an obscene level of panic. All the products on the shelves began to shake and it wasn't until she shrieked and dropped her handful of boxes that a few of the items on display went flying across the room, crashing into the opposite wall. Kai flailed about while screaming, though once she spun around and saw who was there, she immediately stopped, as did the shaking products. Blinking for a second, she flashed a smile and bounced back over to the man.
"Austin!" Kai proceeded to lunge herself at him, drawing him into a briefly hug before looking back up at him, wagging her finger at him with a tense look on her face. "Don't you EVER scare me like that again! Holy crap, I could have destroyed this entire place!" She turned her head to eye the damage on the fallen products, noting that it wasn't as bad as it looked. Oh well, that didn't matter. Austin was there! She had completely forgotten that he was coming over now. "Oh god, what time is it? I'm sorry, I totally lost track of time and the fact you were coming over like.... now." Giggling to herself, she smoothed out her dress and tried to calm down.
Austin wasn't expecting quite that reaction. He'd figured that she was expecting him and that he wouldn't scare her. He watched as things flew around the room, even ducking a couple of times to keep from getting smacked in the forehead with a dildo. "Shit, Kai!" Once everything calmed down as she realized who he was, he laughingly caught her as she hurtled herself at him, hugging her hard. As she pulled away he held his hands up in mock surrender, "Okay, okay, I promise not to scare you again!" He laughed with her before stepped beside her and throwing an arm around her shoulders. "How you doin' girl?"
It was quite wonderful to have Austin be there, let alone have his arm wrapped around her. Kai had been eying him for a while, because HELLO. The guy was drop dead gorgeous. Or at least in her book. He was a perfect bad boy type and Kai simply loved that, and even past all the tattoos and piercings, he was still a sweetheart. A lovely combination that Kai was sure she would never have. Didn't he have a girlfriend? Even if he didn't, he seemed like the flirty type, so who knew where that would go. Shrugging her shoulders at him, she adjusted her glasses while craning her head back to eye him. "Doing pretty good. Just working. Pfff, what else do you expect, I'm at work!" She laughed at herself a bit, giving him a brief squeeze before slipping away to pick up the fallen products. "How about you? I've been so worried sick about you since Dog Ink burned down! You and your little chica doing ok?"
Austin was equally as smitten with the sexy psychic. She was just his type physically with the dark hair, the piercings and tattoos. Even though her moods appeared to be slightly erratic, she seemed to be a good girl, which was just perfect for him. As she scampered off to start picking up some of the fallen products, he trailed after her and picked up some as well, helping her put them back on the shelves. "We're doing okay. She's still having nightmares so hopefully those will go away soon. I do not enjoy being awakened by her screams of terror...breaks my heart." Poor kid. She wasn't scared of the fire so much, but of the smoke. She says her dreams are just filled with grey smoke and then she can't find him and she's all alone in the grey smoke. Austin would just cuddle her and try to reassure her that he wasn't going anywhere. "What about you? I've been concerned about you as well. Did your landlord kick you out?"
Initially Kai flailed a dildo at Austin, trying to get him to stop helping her, because it was her mess and she was the one on the clock, not him. Then she just gave up because she realized he was going to be a sweetheart and help her anyways... and flailing a dildo was just silly. While placing everything back to where they belonged, she listened to his words and was happy to hear the two of them were ok, minus the part about Grace having nightmares. Kai pouted at the thought, even going, "Awww!" at one point. Poor Grace didn't need that and she wished she could have been there to cheer the girl up. Maybe let her borrow her Bedtime Bear plushie to help her sleep at night.
"Me?" Kai fluttered her eyes and felt her emotions plummet relatively fast. Lovely. She hated being so manic. "Uh.... yeah, about that." She tried chuckling to ease the tension, but nothing worked. "She did kick me out, actually. I kept telling her I would get the bills paid, but... money's just so god damn tight and she was not helpful at all." She threw a bunch of boxes back in place, sighing hard. "So my address is now at 1960 Crumby Ass Pick-up Truck, PO Box Fuck My Life, Scarlet Oak, Michigan." Being evicted sucked, even more so seeing it happened just the other day.
Austin burst out laughing as she flailed around a dildo. Those didn't get shaken in his face very often, that was for sure. She was so adorable in her concern for Grace and he wanted to stop and give her a hug for it, but he knew she was working, so he held himself back.
"KAI!" he bellowed. "Why the hell didn't you tell me?! I demand that you come stay with me. It can be permanent, if you want. You can pay like $400 in rent and I'll cover the rest. It'll help me because my roommate just left, so I need help with the rent or I'm going to have to find somewhere else for Gracie and I to live." So what if his last attempt to live with a woman didn't quite work out... he had a feeling Kai would be different. He was sure of it.
Kai felt herself become all of two inches tall when Austin bellowed like that. Why was he yelling?! Did he not know this was not helping her emotions one bit? She felt the box in her hand suddenly shake, and she was pretty sure the vibrator inside didn't magically turn on. Besides, the batteries came separately. "Dude! It happened like, yesterday morning! I had to go to Ann Arbor to work and then double back to this place to work and-" She stopped midway, her mouth hanging open and simply blinked. "Wait, did you just... uh... demand I stay with you? I'm not making that shit up, right?" Kai heard some weird things most of the time, thanks to her disability - to her knowledge, anyways - but the radio was blasting pretty loud, thus drowning out a majority of the voices, which meant... "Oh god, are you serious? Please say yes." I'm not being desperate at all. And you being hot doesn't help. Nope.
He saw the box shaking and went over to her, putting his hands on her shoulders. He looked her straight on in the face and said, "Yes, I demanded. Now bring your crumby ass pickup truck to my house and you're staying. I'm not taking no for an answer. I'll carry you out of here myself, if I have to." And really? Wasn't sounding like such a bad idea. He'd love to pick her up an-- wait, he wasn't going to get distracted, no, no he wasn't. "You can have a whole floor to yourself. Grace and I have the third floor." He paused, not sure if he should continue, but fuck it, he was feeling bold. "Or you're always welcome to share with me."
Her mouth finally dropped at the description. She'd have a whole floor to herself?! Kai was perfectly content with just a single room and she was used to having just that, so this was a massive treat for the girl. "Oh. My. GOD! You are serious!" And with that she dropped the box and flung herself at Austin, completely unaware of the fact the box, uh... bounced and began floating in the air randomly. Kai didn't care, she was too busy clinging onto Austin. "Thank you soooooooooo much! I owe you like, ten million beers! Or something. You drink right? If not, YOU ARE NOW!" She wiggled against him in her giddy state before letting go. "Wow, I don't know what to say right now. I... yeah, totally beyond me. I can't tell you how much this means to me! Hell, I could camp out in your spare closet for all I care, but a WHOLE FLOOR?! I can set up my drum kit and everything!" Kai began bouncing up and down, as did the box in the air, way too excited about this.
All of a sudden he had arms full of a happy wiggling Kai. And boy was that wiggling doing something to him. "So I guess that's a yes?" he asked, chuckling. He was glad she was happy, he liked a happy shiny Kai, verses a sad Kai who was living in her truck. "And I know Grace will be happy...she adores you, you know." She really just loves the fact that when Kai got happy or sad or angry stuff would start flying around. She thought it was great to see her Hello Kitty plushie collection flying through the air. Speaking of things flying through the air, Austin snatched the box out of the air so it wouldn't go crashing down and possibly break something when Kai came out of her happy giddy state. Not that he wanted her to or anything... he liked happy shiny Kai.
That was definitely a yes on Kai's behalf. At least being manic meant she could completely express to her fullest how she felt, and wow, the girl was overjoyed at having a place to go home to that night. And what lovely company, too! "Awww, lil' Gracie likes me? That's so cute! I can finally have someone to watch the Rainbow Brite movie with. We should definitely make that like, a weekly thing. Or hell, daily. I have enough of the movies to last us for a while." Having 80s cartoon nights was awesome in her book. Kai couldn't live without her collection of DVDs - all illegal obtained, of course. Like hell she was going to buy them - or even her various toys, plushies, and attire. "So uh... when can I move in? I got my shift here until... 4 or so? I can't remember, I'd have to double check, but afterwards I could swing by your place? Or someplace?" She then took the box out from his hand and went to go place it where it belonged. She was still at work and had to get something done before her boss showed up.
"Of course Gracie likes you! She adores anyone with a plushie collection. She will have fun watching Rainbow Brite with you, I'm sure." His little girl was definitely going to enjoy having Kai around. Maybe this time things would end a lot better than it had with Darcy. "You're moving in today and I won't take no for an answer. I will not have you sleeping in your truck one more night." He was serious about that too - and who knew where she parked it. There were all kinds of crazies in the world and he didn't want one of them stumbling across her truck. "I have to work until 9 tonight, but if you come by the shop when you're finished up here, I'll give you my house key until we can make you one."
"Well that's good to hear, because I was going to come on over either way, so ha!" Why would she turn down an offer like that? Kai wasn't that crazy. "And waaaaait one second. Stop by the shop? Didn't Dog Ink like....? OH MY GOD, did you find a new place?! You did, didn't know!? HA! I knew you would! What did I say, huh? Huh?" She poked at his shoulder playful with a smile on her face before she walked on over to the empty cardboard box and started breaking it down. "We need to celebrate or something! Well, I mean, not now but I'm all for going out and drinking to this, because honestly? You deserve it!" Granted Kai didn't even give Austin a second to speak and give his input on what really happened, but the second she started talking, there was no way to tell when she was stopping.
Austin did have the good manners to look a little apologetic. "Oh, I guess I forgot to tell you, huh? A former Dog Ink employee opened a shop called Ink, Inc and asked me to come on board. I like it there much better - the atmosphere isn't as hostile." That was a relief to Austin. He wasn't sure how long he could have lasted at Dog Ink if i hadn't burned down. But luckily he was working again and so a lot of his fears were gone. Now with Kai moving in, that'd help him financially as well and he could almost feel the weight lifting off his shoulders. Grinning at Kai, he scooped her up in his arms and twirled her around the store before stopping to stare down at her beautiful face. He lowered his head and kissed her gently on the lips, pulling away quickly so it was more of a peck than anything.
Upon being picked up, Kai couldn't help but squeal at being spun around. This was absolutely perfect! Not only did she have a new place to move into and call her home, but she was moving in with Austin, and now he had a job as well. All was good in her book. As far as she was concerned, there was nothing to worry about for the time being. Well, scratched that, seeing that Austin suddenly eased in to kiss her lips once she was back on the ground. Kai's face immediately turned a deep shade of red at the gentle peck, not sure how to take that. It was hard when she had been crushing on him for a while and all of a sudden he was pulling a stunt like that on her. And they were at her work place, too! What if someone had seen them!? Well, Kai would have flipped them off, that was for sure... but that was besides the point! "What was that for?!" Her eyes widened while placing her hands against her cheeks to hide her blushing.
Awww she was blushing! "You're cute when you're all blushy," Austin teased. "And it was because I wanted to." He shrugged...simple as that really. He, too, had been crushing on her, but didn't want to rush into anything especially since the thing with Darcy had ended not that long ago. But Kai was kind of irresistible to him. In fact, he really wanted to kiss her again, but figured that wasn't such a great thing to do at her job, so he tried to resist her. Austin looked down at this watch. "I gotta get going... just come pick up the key when you're heading to my place." He grabbed a pen and her hand, writing the address on the back of her hand. He turned her hand over and pressed a kiss in her palm. "See you soon, sexy."
For once in her life the psychic was struck speechless. She just blinked her big brown eyes up at Austin and watched him head on out. A smile swept across her face as he kissed her palm, trying not to make herself look even more like a moron, then proceeded to wiggle her fingers at him goodbye when he finally left. Once alone in the shop with no one to watch, Kai began to flail about like a moron while squeeing. "Oh my god, this is AWESOOOOOME!" Now she couldn't wait for the day to be over with so she could meet up at Austin's place and welcome herself to her new home. Their home.
