Kat wasn't going to say that she was bored because that wasn't the right word. It was more like everything in the house was tense. She was sure that if she got a knife then she could cut right through it because seriously, it was like that. Like how they cut things out of the fog in those Scooby-Doo cartoons only with tension. Not that the teen was fully sure of what the tension was about. It just seemed to be centering around her parents and Roxy. Which was weird. Roxy hadn't done anything lately that Kat knew of. Keyword: that Kat knew of. She tended to be so caught up in her own world that she forgot to pay attention to what others did unless it affected her. Was it the whole bringing people to the party who attacked each other? Maybe that was it.
Whatever it was, Kat didn't feel like dealing with it. It was seriously getting in the way of her chatting. Glancing around her room, Kat picked up her cell and flipped it open, scrolling through the Scarlet Oak numbers. There weren't really all that many and she was ready to - oh! Otter! he was around her age and if she remembered right then he totally had a car. (Or maybe that was one of his brothers) And worked at a candy store. Perfect. Hitting the 'send' button she brought the phone up to her ear, toying with a pink piece of hair as she waited for him to answer. Hopefully he remembered who she was since she hadn't actually seen him since last winter when her family was on vacation, the sort of scrawny one of the family who didn't change into an otter when they went sledding together. Back when Scarlet Oak had been for vacations only. Good times.
