As the girl spoke, Bia was able to quickly deduce what had happened. She had been burned. That in itself should have been simple. A blood magic spell, turning ones own element against them, wasn't a terribly difficult thing. It could be done early on, if you took an elemental's blood.
But subjecting them to the pain of their element, for a set period of time, and most importantly - without the element being present... that was powerful magic. Bia would expect no less than a master blood witch.
"You felt the pain of fire, child," Bia told her, seeing no need to sugarcoat it. "You felt the pain of being burned. In a way, he was merciful. If he has the power to do that, then he had the power to make the burns physical - and scar you with them, even kill you. You felt them, suffered them, but it does not appear you will carry them with you forever. It seems the spell is gone now."
