Smiling at Satu, Linnea leaned down enough to kiss her daughter's forehead in return of the hug before returning to the preparation. Eggs cooked to each of the family member's preferences, a pot of coffee, a pitcher of orange juice and a very large stack of toast. Linnea did not have to be a mind reader to know that Dagmar was probably not going to want to eat anything else. There were even little bits of food for the various familiars... except Arich. Linnea was not about to go around the house finding bugs for the thing to eat. He could spin his own webs or starve as far as she cared. Her lips tightened at the intrusion in her mind but she let it go without a second thought, carrying everything to the table and setting it down in front of each one.
Taking her own seat at the opposite side of the table as Jokull, Linnea took a sip from her coffee. The small bowl of minnows had gone onto the floor by Dagmar's feet for Slipper, who seemed more exuberant about the meal than any of the people around the table. Since the question had not been directed at her, Linnea did not answer. Perhaps they could just have a pleasant breakfast and idle conversation. That would be a nice change that might even lead to her spending the entire morning in the house instead of going for a swim.
You're being optimistic, aren't you? Linnea did not even bother to conjure up a reply for her familiar because he already knew the answer.
