The lack of spoken sympathy was good and more, exactly what Hap wanted. He did not like to talk about Tanya or what had happened or a multitude of other things. Sometimes that was hard with Denise believing as she did and wanting to talk about it. There were other people who could deal with that, right? Guidance counselors and friends and anyone who was better at it than him. Wasn't that he lacked the desire to help, just the ability.
"Oh, cool then." Hap nodded, shifting against the wall. Sister and a foster son who - oh good, he was not expected to remember them because they had not been there. So who was he thinking of? Ghost again, just some lingering spirit. Funny that he was better at remembering them than most people. Though Maria's height and her hair should have stuck a little more firmly in his memory. Most people probably would have remembered her for those alone, or at least the childcare center thing. "You guys going to catch the fireworks later? Should be pretty spectacular and I'd know, looked them over earlier to make sure everything was in the clear." For some reason he felt the need to at least chat a bit before walking off. Having never been all that great at the conversation thing it probably came off awkward to everyone but him.
