Rigby's family had never been the type to get all excited for something like fireworks. Back when he'd still been Garrett Walker, it had been hard enough to get his father to show some sign that the boy even existed, even when he could hear every thought going through the man's mind. A few years, Allison managed to sneak Garrett to see some fireworks, and he remembered being entranced by them, staring up in the sky long after the colors stopped raining down.
Even now, some of those feeling stirred in him again. This was something he should be sharing with Fina. Wasn't there something else going on tonight? Something with her band? She'd mentioned it in passing but in the wake of the demon attack, Rigby couldn't remember what it was, now. Another strike against him as a boyfriend, but what else was new? Fina deserved someone better than the shit Rigby put her through.
Just then flickers of Graham's thoughts came through. Thoughts about Autumn and someone named Jezebelle. And then, Saoirse. Since learning Rigby was a telepath, Graham had been careful not to think about the vampire. Now, the drugs made it impossible to direct thoughts like that. Rigby knew, he'd seen it happen before. At the moment, he wasn't trying to listen in. Maybe he'd walk a little further down the beach from Graham, give him some privacy. On the other hand, he was kind of glad the two of had happy memories together. Everyone should, to remind you why you couldn't always dwell on the bad.
