His intention had not been to make Karine uncomfortable... at least, not in this instance. It was just Garrick's office and while he didn't suspect his employees would eavesdrop on them, it was better to be sure that they wouldn't. If they tried anything, Garrick would have them killed. Shop clerks were expendable, and in their last moments, they'd realize exactly why it was Garrick loved the weaponry he sold so much. But that was neither here nor there.
He nodded, rubbing at his chin a little. "You're right, of course. The town itself is... a bit smaller than I would normally like. But it's growing, and I see it as a viable risk." Karine, too, had found one of her vampire children here? Perhaps this was one of the crossroads of the New World, with Garrick finding Lex here, too. "Whisper Charlton? The name sounds familiar, but I'll be honest, I've not yet met her." Perhaps he would change that at some point in the future; it would be interesting to see the woman Karine would decide to give immortal life. He would offer for Karine to meet Lex, but that would end badly for all involved. "I've not heard anything in regards to hunters, but my contacts in this town are still new. I will keep an ear open for you." It wasn't a lie, Garrick hadn't been in Scarlet Oak that long.
