The pianist and the sex shop worker. Who: Kitty and Jules When: Early evening Where: Wonderland
Before leaving the house, Jules tried her best to cover up the bruise on her eye, but after a while gave up. It was still too deep a color for make up to really cover it enough. She'd probably get stares, but she really didn't care at the moment. She was more concerned with doing something interesting for Aiden. She'd got the thought into her head that maybe they could spice up their already fiery love life; different was the way to go and different involved a nice little trip to the local sex shop. Not that most people probably called it that, but that's what Jules referred to it as, and she was looking to find some lovely restraints of some sort. She was pretty certain that Aiden would have a field day with anything he could tie her up with.
She entered the store and made a slow sweep of the area before finally heading to the counter. "Do you carry restraints?" she questioned, arching a brow. "Like... ties, handcuffs... stuff like that?"
Kitty had been at work since 2pm and was in a fairly good mood. She'd had fun with her hair and makeup, going for a somewhat goth-punk look, and hoped to maybe go dancing when she got off work. The shop didn't get hopping until after dark, and tonight she got off at ten, which meant the busiest part of her shift was towards the end. She didn't mind. In the meantime, she had music playing the background while she flipped through her newest graphic novel, all the while chewing on a twizzler. She smiled as the girl approached, setting her candy and reading aside. "Sure!" she said, coming around from behind the counter. "Are you looking for hard core or soft core? We've got ropes, silk scarves, hand cuffs, padded cuffs, fuzzy cuffs, bondage tape, and a full under the bed restraint system."
"Oh, that's a hard decision... maybe I should start out with the soft stuff first. Not completely sure how freaky my boyfriend is willing to get," Jules admitted. "Just want something different to... spice things up?"
"I'd go for something like black silk scarves then," Kitty said, leading Jules over to the section with restraints. "They're strong, but soft at the same time. If you twist 'em, they look more rope-like, but aren't going to come across screaming bondage the way rope or handcuffs might. Plus, you don't have to worry about keeping track of a key." She had, on one occasion, had to provide a second key to a very frantic customer. She could only imagine the state of his girlfriend back home, waiting.
Jules nodded, a little grin slipping across her lips. She couldn't help but be thankful that her eye felt at least a little better. The act of a smile no longer causing her such discomfort as it had the day before. "Sounds good to me. I'd end up losing it... or he'd lose it and then I'd be forced to kill him." she joked. She followed Kitty along to the section of restraints and let her blue eyes glance over the selection. "I had no idea how many different forms of... ties or whatever there could be." she said. "Wow."
Kitty would have never used such a turn of tongue, due to the fact that she might actually kill the guy, but she could understand. On the other hand, she'd occasionally eyed the wall and wondered if being tied up might actually allow for sex without the threat of death. For the guy, that was. She'd have to be the one tied up. "Some people are really into the bondage scene," Kitty said. "They'll go with the leather cuffs. Kids that just wanna play around, go for the tape, especially since they can put it in a drawer and pass it off as something else. But if you're looking for something you can use more than once, scarves are better. And can be used as blindfolds."
"Scarves are good." she said, reaching out to snag some of them. "I'm not even sure what I'm into yet. Guess I'm just... expanding my horizons and seeing what I can talk Aiden into." Jules said, a little laugh escaping. She wondered who'd end up getting tied first. More than that, she wondered if it'd take liquoring Aiden up to get him to let her restrain him. "Awesome job, by the way. Must be interesting to see the people that come in here and what they buy."
"That outta be fun," Kitty grinned. If Aiden was the kind of guy that it took work to restrain, than actually having him give in would probably be a good time. She tried to picture the kind of guy the girl might go after, hoping that he wasn't responsible for the black eye she had. If that was the case, then he definitely needed restraining. Kitty just wasn't sure sex would follow. "It's an easy job, but it pays decent since due to the subject matter. Great for people watching, trying to guess what they've come for. Couples amuse me the most," she smiled. "I'm Kitty, by the way."
"I'm Jules." she returned, nodding a little. "I can imagine though. I bet you've had some come in for some freaky stuff. I can just imagine the business men with the kinky tendencies and all that." she chuckled, shaking her head a little as she envisioned it herself. Three piece suits looking for strap-ons or vibrators. Definitely interesting conversation topics, that was for sure. "Got any awesome stories?" she asked. "Weirdest thing you've had someone come looking for? Or just weirdest thing for a particular person to leave with?"
"Weirdest thing ever was the guy who wanted a dildo made of cheese. I couldn't figure out if he wanted an actual cheese dildo, or just cheese flavored, but we don't carry either, and I hope no one does," Kitty laughed. She could only imagine the mess that would create if actually used on someone. Disgusting. "I've only been here a month, so I'm sure I'll see worse the longer I stay. It makes for some crazy stories, though, so that's kinda fun. What do you do, if you don't mind me asking?"
"That... is just gross." she chuckled, shaking her head just a bit. "And nah, I don't mind you asking. I'm a personal assistant at a law firm." Jules explained. "I kinda do a little bit of everything. Some filing, some calling clients... some dealing with annoying lawyers middle of the day, requests for bagels or coffee or whatever." she shrugged. "Definitely not as interesting as working here, I can bet you that."
"But it's a real job, the kind that doesn't raise eyebrows," Kitty smiled. "I'm a student at the University of Michigan, so hopefully I won't be working here forever. It just suits me for the time being. Plus, I get to know all the dirty little secrets in Scarlet Oak." Well, not all of them, but at least those relating to porn. "How much you wanna bet some of those lawyers you work for drop by here from time to time?"
"Probably. I wouldn't doubt it. Especially that hard ass Griggs. He totally has some kinky fetish, I bet. Probably likes to be bound and gagged and covered with hot wax or something. He thinks he's like the shit at work and always acts so perfect and all that. Whatever, I think he's harboring some interesting little secrets." Jules grinned.
"Too bad there's not a psychic around," Kitty laughed. "Then again, I wouldn't wanna know that much about people. That would suck." Despite being what she was, Kitty had no idea what it must be like for any other sort of supernatural being. Her abilities didn't compare with a lot of what was out there, unless you considered her an odd combination of were-raven and mermaid-- not for the water, but for the singing. Psychic abilities were completely different. "So, when you're not playing with your boyfriend or working for the kinky fetishist lawyers, what do you get up to?"
"Nothing really." she admitted. "I'm kind of... boring. It's a little like... up, work, home, Aiden, bed. Usually in that order. Of course the bed part is pretty fun." she grinned, unable to hold back the teeny little giggle that slipped past her lips. "What about you?" Jules asked. "What do you do when you're not selling to those kinky fetishist lawyers?"
Kitty grinned and wondered once again what it would be like to live with a guy, spend time with one, date one seriously. It wasn't something she saw happening in her life, since there was always the worry that she'd end up killing someone she cared about. For not the first time, she wished she were a lesbian. Somehow that seemed like it would make things easier. "I'm a student, working my way through nursing school," Kitty said. "When I'm not studying, I sing at some of the local bars or take parts in musicals."
"Nice." Jules grinned. "I've been thinking about occupying some of my time with like... some sort of musical thing. I play the piano pretty well, so I thought maybe I'd check into tutoring and giving piano lessons and stuff like that." she shrugged. "I couldn't sing if my life depended on it, but at least I can make pretty music in some way. Nursing though? Singing and nursing. Interesting. Do you like one better than the other?"
"Singing. Music. All the way," Kitty said without even having to consider it. "Mom doesn't think it's a stable career option though, and she's footing the bills, so nursing it is. Do you ever write your own songs?" While she could read music just fine, Kitty wasn't talented in the playing of it. Her instrument was her voice, and that had always been enough. It would be cool, though, to be able to do more.
"Sometimes." she shrugged. "I fiddle around with notes and what not, playing a few measures of whatever I feel like playing. I haven't really sat around to do much writing though lately. Maybe I should. I miss playing as much as I used to."
"If you're ever looking for someone to write with, let me know," Kitty smiled. "I've always wanted a band or something, just other musically inclined people to fool around with. I don't know if you can have a jam session with a piano and vocals, but I'd be in." It sounded fun, even if it made very little sense.
"That could be fun actually." she grinned. "Wouldn't mind hearing you sing, that's for sure and if I can help you practice or whatever, just bring whatever music you wanna have played and I can read from it and play for you. We should try getting together sometime soon." Jules suggested.
"I'd really like that," Kitty grinned. "Let me get you my number." Leading Jules back towards the register, Kitty scribbled down her name and number, as well as her email address, just in case. People communicated in all sorts of ways these days, so it never hurt. "That's my cell, and don't worry about calling at odd times. I never know when I'm gonna be awake or asleep with a job like this. Summer classes don't start up for a bit more, so I've got lots of free time at the moment."
Jules sat her items down on the counter and let Kitty write her number out. When she slipped the paper towards her, she reached out to take it and nodded. "Alright. I'll definitely get in touch with you then." she assured her. A girl could always use friends and, hell, this one worked at a sex shop. How many people could say that? "I can give you my number too if you like, got another piece of paper?"
"Yep," Kitty said, grabbing another spare sheet from behind the counter. They always had post-its sitting around, for whatever reason. Sometimes people called to see if they had something in stock, sometimes people wanted to write down their order, whatever. It was just good practice. Kitty handed her a pen and began to ring up her items. "Was there anything else you were looking for?" she asked. "I know we kinda got sidetracked. Not that that's bad! But I thought I should check."
Jules wrote out her number and email address and shook her head. "Nah, I think I'm just gonna go with that. A little bit at a time for Aiden." she chuckled. "Don't want to overwhelm him with sex shop stuff." she grinned, sliding the paper across to Kitty.
"Good plan," Kitty snickered, the price popping up on the register. "No need to go crazy all at once. Start small and work up." It wasn't a practice she'd ever gotten to try out, but it sounded good enough. Bagging the scarves, she pocketed Jules' information.
Taking out her debit card, Jules handed it over to Kitty and tucked her phone numbers away in her purse. "Start small." she agreed. "I'm just looking forward to having him all tied up." she grinned. "I'll probably have to do it while he's sleeping though. Don't know how much he's willing to do right from the start. We'll see though. I can be quite persistent."
"Keep in mind that if you tie him up, he's gonna wanna do the same," Kitty laughed, running Jule's card through the machine. Seconds later, the receipt spit out and Kitty handed one copy over for Jules to sign, slipping the other into her bag. "I'm glad you dropped by. I don't meet many people on the job that I'd like to see anywhere else, so this is a treat for me."
Jules smiled as she sighed the slip and handed it back to Kitty. "I know, right! I was just thinking the same thing. But hey, this is a new and different experience for me. At least I gained more than just some restraints out of it. It's always nice to meet someone who shares interests with me. Especially the music ones. Aiden is great, but I don't think he's very into piano." She wasn't really sure, she didn't play much around the man.
"Same here," Kitty smiled. "I love to sing, but it's hard to find people that will do so with me, or something like that." She couldn't believe how lucky she was in meeting Jules. Things like this just didn't happen every day. "Have a good night, Jules! I hope to hear from you soon!" If not, she'd call instead. That didn't bother her at all.
"You will!" Jules said, taking her bag and heading towards the door. "See you later, Kitty." she smiled, heading out and back towards her car. Now all she had to do was figure out exactly how she was going to manage to tie up Aiden Quinlan without waking him and good enough that he didn't want to kick her butt when he woke up. Decisions decisions.
