He didn't mind that she wanted to talk to him. Hell, after what she'd told her mom, Quentin needed at least the heads up, wondering what email he was going to get from her mother in the morning. He even had a short bio posted on his website, for Christ's sake, so she'd know he was a painter and new in town and just... ugh. Better to be upfront and form a plan of attack now, before he got ambushed. He recalled a conversation they'd had once, that Roxy's mom was similiar to his, so maybe he could use that Kennebunkport experience here too.
Cuddling or having to act like boyfriend and girlfriend in front of her family woudld be easier with her as a penguin, hands down. Maybe he'd just pet her and try to play with her a bit, and let her fix his crazy hair, and that would be enough to fool her family. Yeah, right. As long as they had the story straight, and they each knew the basic details about the other, this could go smoothly. It was just one party, right? Unless they believed it, then it was going to get complicated really fast.
"You're dating a mermaid?" Okay, so that one was unexpected, but somehow Quentin could see how that would work, given what Roxy's were form was. It certainly gave them one way to meet, out in the water. "And just out of the hospital? I mean, she's okay, right? I just don't want her mad at me or anything, because it's not like we're actually dating or anything, it's just for appearances." He sighed. "What are you doing tomorrow? I'm supposed to be meeting up with a friend for lunch, but I'm free beyond that, and we need to figure this shit out. And if there's someone else there to keep me from going crazy, maybe back us up a bit..." This was just getting worse and worse, wasn't it? The more people they got involved, the more likely it was going to fuck up. Quentin knew that. His first thought was to ask Lia, but that likely wouldn't help, seeing as she didn't know Roxy nor any of Roxy's friends.
