Distraction Repellent
Who: Madock and Jessalyn
When: Afternoon - Pre pool party
Where: phonelines and out
Once he left Gabe's house, Madock headed back home and went to his room, pulling his phone out and dialing Jessalyn's number. Despite the fact that it was programmed in, he'd already memorized the damn thing. He just hoped that she wasn't busy and he didn't look like a jackass calling. Her school day should be over by now, so he listened quietly as the phone rang, pulling his drawers on his dresser open and trying to decide what trunks he was going to wear. Preferably slightly baggy ones. Wet, slightly clothed Jessalyn was sure to have his motor running even if she didn't touch him the whole afternoon.
Jessalyn was at home and changing into her swim suit when her phone rang. She picked it up and smiled when she saw it was Madock. She had been about to call him herself, after she'd changed. Since she knew Gabe Winters would be at Charlotte's, Jessalyn also knew that meant Claire Korey would probably also be there... which made Jessalyn want to invite Madock, if he hadn't been already. "Hey," she greeted brightly before flopping down on the edge of her bed. "I was about to call you! How are you?"
"Hey." he said, grinning back though she couldn't see it. He could practically hear the sound of her smiling and it was infectious, urging his own and forcing it to stick around. "Awesome, then I didn't catch you at a bad time, that's good. So I was like wondering if you had anything to do this afternoon because there's this like... party thing at Charlotte's house and Claire invited me and so I know your brother is going, so you're probably going so... you wanna go with me?" he questioned, the words slurring together, mostly because despite having already been on one date with the girl it was still a little nerve wracking to ask her out on another date. Especially when people would see them together, after all they weren't official and people would be talking if they went together, of course that was alright with Madock but he wasn't sure if Jessalyn wanted to be the talk of the youth in town.
Jessalyn's smile seemed to widen with every word Madock said. It sounded like he was almost nervous to be asking her to Charlotte's house, despite having already been out with her. "I would love to go with you," Jessalyn said, once he was finished. There was no reason for her to hesitate or play hard to get. Not with Madock. Though Jessalyn wasn't sure she knew how to play hard to get, so it didn't matter. "What time do you want to pick me up?"
"Um..." he said, having not let his brain actually get around to that part. "Well a little bit before the party starts I suppose would be best but uh... I kinda wanna change and just come get you now." he admitted. And maybe he shouldn't have admitted that, but Madock wasn't one to hold much inside himself, especially not when it had to do with Jessalyn. "I'm trying to find my swim trunks now. Dude, summer is so freakin' awesome. I think I'm gonna spend the whole thing shirtless. Wait, that totally didn't have anything to do with what I was talking about. Fuck."
"That's totally fine with me," Jessalyn said quickly, eager to jump at the chance of seeing him now-ish. "I'm already more or less ready for Charlotte's so... if you want to come get me now, that would be okay." She grinned and stifled the giggles that threatened at his shirtless comment. "It sort of has something to do with what you're talking about. I mean swimming and swim trunks, which means summer, which means shirtless. I wish I could go shirtless but I would probably end up getting arrested for indecent exposure. So I'm totally jealous of you right now."
He blinked a couple of times and tried to rid himself the thought that popped in his head, but shirtless Jessalyn apparently wanted to stay there. "Thanks for the mental image, babe. I'll be thinking about that for the rest of the night." Which was at least honest. He'd probably be thinking about it for more than just the rest of the night. Probably for the rest of the week at least. "But yeah, lemme change and then I'll head over there to pick you up." he said. "See you in a few?"
Laughing, Jessalyn nodded, even though he couldn't see it. "I'm sorry... I should think more before I speak." Duh. It was just a hard habit to break. "I'll be ready when you get here. I'll see you soon." She hung up and quickly pulled on her skirt over her bikini bottom. It was a simple red bathing suit, since Jessalyn didn't swim around people often, she wasn't all that concerned with the fashion. She made a face at herself in the mirror, wishing she weighed a bit more, but what could you do? Slipping a t-shirt on, she pushed her feet into her sandals, and grabbed her bag that held her towel before hurrying downstairs to wait for Madock.
Madock hung up his own phone and made quick work of finding a pair of black swim trunks. Plain and black and slightly baggy, but that'd be good for keeping his unmentionables from being seen in the event that she looked as hot in reality as she did in a bikini in his brain. Finding a white wifebeater to go along with it and some extra clothes for later should they decide to hang out after the party, he stuffed his things into his empty backpack and grabbed a beach towel. Tossing those into his car, he made sure he had his keys and cell and made the drive out to Jessalyn's place. Once there, he went to the door and knocked lightly, waiting for the girl to come down and fiddling with the hem of his wifebeater.
Jessalyn answered a few seconds after Madock's knock, once she was able to get her hair piled up on top of her head in a messy ponytail. She had her things and was ready to go, and when she saw him standing there, she smiled. "I thought I heard something about you going shirtless all summer," she teased before stepping out into the porch and shutting the door behind her.
He smiled a little at that and shrugged. "Well, I'm practically shirtless." he said, sliding his hands away from the hem of his beater. "But see... I could got shirtless if that's really what you want." he teased, taking hold of the hem once more and pulling the shirt up and over his head. "See, better?"
"Better," Jessalyn said with a laugh. She was glad her parents knew she was going to a pool party, otherwise they might get suspicious if they looked out the window to see Madock with his shirt off. Not that Jessalyn minded. He had a really nice body. "Sorry I'm unable to join you in that state of undress. At least for now."
He bit his bottom lip and tried his damnedest not to look pleased at the 'at least for now' part of her statement. "Guess I'll just have to be patient." he said, leading her out to his car and pulling the door open for her.
"You seem like the kind of person with a lot of patience," Jessalyn told him before she slipped into his car and set her bag down. She hoped he had patience, and lots of it. Especially when it came to sex. She would eventually have to tell him what she was, but she didn't want to do that until she knew what was actually going on between them. If it was just a fun, summer fling type thing, then maybe she would keep it to herself for now. "Is your sister going to the party?" Jess asked, once Madock joined her in the car.
He nodded. "Yeah, Gabe is picking her up and they're going." Of course that thought had him thinking about Gabe and Claire again. He wondered if Gabe would try and make a move today. Madock supposed that it wasn't really any of his business, but it was hard not to be curious about what Claire might say if she finally realized that Gabe liked her. Madock headed around to his side of the car and climbed in, stuffing the key into the ignition and then turned the car on. "Figure your brother is going obviously." he smiled. "Girlfriend throwing the party and all."
"Oh! Yeah, he's probably already there," Jessalyn said with a nod. "He and Charlie are becoming like, inseparable or something. Which is awesome, since I like her." Jessalyn had a feeling Ransom had already found his mate, which made her all kinds of giddy inside. Though a bit of envy and sadness was mixed in there somewhere as well. But Jessalyn didn't bother dwelling on those emotions.
"That's cool." he said, nodding a little as he pulled away from the curb. "So um... I'm gonna warn you before we get there, my sister is probably going to corner you and demand to know your intentions. Probably much more politely than that... but thought you should know before it happened."
"My intentions?" Jessalyn glanced at him before she laughed. "That's... sweet! I can handle it, don't worry. I'll just be completely honest, and hopefully she won't throw me in the pool or anything." She knew how siblings could be protective of one another. She always felt super protective of hers. "I've got several siblings who could corner you someday, so it's only fair."
"So um... what are your intentions?" he questioned, hoping his face didn't start going a little red. Did you seriously just ask her what her intentions with you are?
Smiling, Jessalyn looked at him, thinking his question was pretty cute. "Isn't it the girl who's usually supposed to ask that? Don't worry, Madock. My intentions are strictly pure. For the most part." She paused briefly. "What are yours with me?"
The blushing that he'd been holding back crept across his cheeks and he shrugged a little. "I... well, I dunno." he said, glancing over at her and then back through the windshield again. "I like you... I like spending time with you... and I want to spend more time with you so... I guess I kinda... maybe... wanna keep dating you... like..." Officially.
"Like you want to be my boyfriend?" Jessalyn asked, since she was guessing that's what he was trying to get at. She had already sort of considered him to be her boyfriend, but she certainly hadn't want to say it aloud until she was sure. Especially not in front of him, or his sister.
The light blush turned into a full on deep coloring in his cheeks and he swallowed. "Umm... yeah... I guess that's what I'm trying to say. If you want though. I mean, you don't have to. We can just... 'date' if you want. I don't want you to feel like you gotta say yes because you totally don't.."
She reached out to brush her knuckles against his jaw and cheek, which were both incredibly red at this point. "I really want to say yes. So I'm going to say yes," Jessalyn told him. "I want to date you, and I don't want to date anyone else... so I would much rather be able to call you my boyfriend rather than 'this boy I'm dating'."
"Good." he smiled, nodding a little and reaching up to take her hand from his cheek, lacing his fingers through hers and giving it a little squeeze. "Lots easier to call you my girlfriend too. So... officially then?"
"Officially," Jessalyn agreed. It was a weird thing to believe Madock Korey was her boyfriend. Very weird. In a wonderful kind of way. And already she was thinking maybe she ought to tell him what she was. Maybe. Maybe after they left the pool party and had some more private time together. "So are we going right to Charlotte's?"
"We don't have to." he told her. "It's a bit early... we could just hang out for a little while if you want. Up to you though. You ready for swimming or wanna do something else first?" he questioned. I have a girlfriend. I have a girlfriend. the little voice in his head sang, the words bouncing around his brain over and over again.
"We can do anything you want," Jessalyn said with a small shrug as she glanced out her window. "Do you want to find a private place and make out for awhile?" Wouldn't it be fun to get all heated and then go jump in a cold pool? Maybe that was an odd thing to think, but her brain was all over the place at the moment.
He couldn't help but chuckle a little at that. "Did you seriously just ask me to find a private place to make out?" he questioned. "Or did my brain make me hallucinate?" Madock couldn't really be sure which was more true. He was hoping that she was asking. "But if you wanna make out... I'm sure we could find somewhere." he smiled. "I mean... you live on this side of town so you'd probably know all the best spots right?"
"Yeah, but most of them you can't get to by car," Jessalyn admitted with a small grin. "That pond I was telling you about is only like a mile from here. We could park and walk to it? It has a really cute little wooden dock thing where we could sit. Or we could just drive until we find a quiet, private place. Up to you!"
"I don't mind walking." he smiled. "So... just tell me where to park and we can walk out to said pond." He would have offered some swimming there, but he was pretty sure they'd never make it to the party if they got down to swim suits now.
"In a few minutes you'll come up upon a part of the road that has a bit of a clearing." She pointed ahead to her left. "You can park there. And then there's like, a small dirt path that leads back to the point." Even as she spoke, she could see the clearing coming up upon them. "Right there," she instructed. "Don't worry, it's a totally legal place to park and everything... so you won't get ticketed if a cop drives by."
"Alright." he said, following her instructions and looking for the clearing. It didn't take long to find it and once he had, he parked his car and tucked the keys into the pocket of his swimtrunks and climbed out. "So we just walk then?" he said, pulling her door open and offering out a hand to her. "Gonna keep me safe from all the beasties in the woods?" he teased.
"Just walk," Jessalyn said, taking his hand to get out of the car. She didn't release him once she had, and instead began to lead him toward the woods. "Don't worry, any beasties we find in the woods are probably all very nice beasties," she assured him. They wouldn't attack she or Madock, if they did run into a shapeshifter or werewolf. "It's not that long a walk or anything..." Though it was hot, but that was okay. They could always jump in the pond to cool off if they had to.
"I'm sure I run farther every morning." he nodded, not too worried about the distance. Besides, he could hold her hand the whole way there so it didn't seem to bad anyway. He was still shirtless, having left his wifebeater in the car and he couldn't help but tease her a little. "So, I think you should try that whole shirtless thing." he teased. "We're not in public so I doubt you'll get ticketed for indecent exposure." he grinned.
"But think of all the bug bites," Jessalyn pointed out before she smiled and released her hand to tug her t-shirt up and over her head. She had her bikini top on underneath, so she wasn't too concerned with it. She reached out to take his hand again, holding her t-shirt in the other. "You like to run?" Jessalyn asked, glancing up at him. "I do too! I mean, in a non-racing capacity, though that's pretty fun too."
Like most teenage boys in the world, it was a really hard to ignore a mostly shirtless girl standing next to him. His mostly shirtless girlfriend. He swallowed and then realized that she'd asked him a question. "What?" he questioned, feeling really bad that he totally hadn't heard her. She's going to know that you were staring at her boobs. he thought to himself. It's going to be the shortest relationship ever. Ask a girl out, oggle her breasts, get broken up with. Nice going, Korey.
"I asked if you liked to run," Jessalyn repeated, a curious smile on her face. Oh! He had been looking at her boobs. Well, that was okay. He'd already complimented them once. And it wasn't like she had a lot to oggle at anyway. She was amused and cocked her head. "Are you okay?" she asked, a soft teasing lilt in her voice.
"Yeah... I'm sorry." he said, looking at her face instead of her chest now. "Yeah, I like to run. I do it like every morning to stay in shape and stuff. Kind of a habit I guess. I get up and run and then shower. It's like a morning ritual or something. And you look really hot in a bathing suit. Just in case you didn't know that."
"It's a good habit to have," Jessalyn told him, her eyes drifting down to his chest. "It definitely has it's benefits." Because yes, he had a really, really nice body. And she wished her hormones, both human and otherwise, would calm down! She grinned quickly and looked back up at his face. "I do? Thanks. I think I'm too skinny." Which she was. "But there's nothing I can do about it, I guess."
"You're not." he told her. "I mean you are... skinny. But not too skinny. I mean you don't look anorexic or anything. That would be too skinny, but you're totally not." he smiled. "I like you just fine the way you are, so yeah. You don't relaly need to do anything about it anyway."
She hoped she didn't look anorexic! Sure, she was a bit bony in some places, but she ate all the time. And she ate a lot. But nothing seemed to stick, unfortunately. "Well, thanks." She grinned and tugged him along as the path opened up into a small clearing. The pond was smallish, but deep enough, and clean enough, to swim in. The wooden dock was a bit rickety, but Jessalyn had always found it was sturdy enough that it wouldn't fall apart. "I like you just the way you are too... "
"Good." he smiled. "I don't have to go on a diet then." he teased, stopping the walk for a second to catch her cheek with his free hand and turn her face so he could kiss her. "Sorry. I've just been wanting to do that for a good ten minutes now."
"Never have to apologize for that," Jessalyn murmured, her hands coming up to his neck before she pushed up on her toes to kiss him again. "Though I'm impressed by your constraint." And kisses with Madock never got old. Every single one felt like the first one.
He grinned when she kissed him again, liking the way her hands felt around his neck. "I'd say we could go for a swim... but I'm pretty sure if we got in, I wouldn't want to go to the party and have to share you with everyone else." he admitted. "But... we can sit on the dock and get our feet wet, that's close enough to swimming for now. And... maybe after the party we can come do some alone-type swimming?"
"That's okay... we can relax here for a bit and then go to Charlie's. I don't mind being fashionably late," Jessalyn told him. Her hands moved down his neck to his chest before she slipped her arms around him to tug him close. "I would really really love to come back after the party to swim just the two of us, but I promised my friend Tayne that I would see a movie with him tonight after he got out of work. But... no school tomorrow," she added with a grin. "Maybe I could come see you after?"
"Well that stinks." Madock said, letting out a little sigh. "But yeah. How bout this..? You call me after the movie so we can talk and stuff and then tomorrow after Graduation we can come here and... have a celebratory swim? What'dya say?"
"That sounds perfect. I'm sorry," Jessalyn said, leaning up to nuzzle his chin. "I actually made these plans the day you picked me up to take me home... but I'll definitely call you after I get home. And I would love to spend tomorrow after graduation with you."
He shook his head a little. "Nah, it's okay, really." he assured her, flashing a little smile for the girl. "Not gonna tell you that you can't hang out with your friends, baby. That just ain't my style. So yeah, just call me tonight or whatever so I know you made it back safe and then tomorrow after graduation we can go do something. Swimming maybe, or whatever. Sure we'll figure something out." Madock pressed a little kiss against Jessalyn's forehead and then smiled at her again. "No reason to be sorry."
Jess nodded with a smile. "I can definitely do that. And I'll see you doing graduation too... well, you probably won't see me, but I'll be cheering for you." And she wondered if she should get him a graduation present! Probably. Yes, definitely. She made a mental note to stop somewhere before she went home for the evening. "Want to sit and enjoy the sun and quiet for awhile?" There wasn't much sun, since the trees shaded almost everything, but it would be nice to have some alone time before they went to the party.
"Mhm." he nodded, leaning over a bit and grabbing her around the waist. He hoisted her over his shoulder and carried her the rest of the way to the dock, grinning a little when he finally set her down. "Sorry. Kinda always wanted to do that. So yeah, now I've done that. Randomly. But whatever." he grinned, slipping his feet out of his sandals and setting himself down at the edge of the dock.
She shrieked in a pleased sort of way when he lifted her. She was sure it was no weight for him, given he worked out and played sports and she barely skimmed a hundred a fifteen pounds. She laughed when he set her back down and then joined him on the edge of the dock after taking off her own sandals. "I like random... random is good. Random keeps things fun," Jessalyn told him, nudging him as she skimmed her toes over the surface of the water.
He let his own feet move over the edge of the dock and touch the cool water and grinned a little as she nudged him. "Well I guess things are always going to be fun for us." Madock said. "I tend to do a lot of random things." he admitted. "Don't think I know how to be just... boring I guess. And maybe that sounds weird, but yeah. Mr. Random at your service."
"Is it a planned sort of random? Or just one of those things were you do or say something without thinking much about it?" Because she was that way, quite often actually. Usually her brain was a couple beats behind her words or actions, as strange as that was. Not that it ever bothered her. It tended to throw people off more than anything, which was always a bit entertaining.
"Not a planned sort of random at all, actually." he admitted. "See... I don't even know how to explain it," Madock began. "It's more like there's all these things running through my head at the same time and by the time I pick the one out I probably should be saying, I've already said something else that just... isn't even on topic." Madock shrugged a little, and glanced over at her, giving her a little smile. "Just... random and off topic most of the time. A lot of people think I'm like... ignoring what they ask or pushing the subject to something else on purpose, but I don't even mean to really."
She looked at him curiously. "Why do you think that is? Like, for me... I just say what I think most of the time, before I can even think about not saying it. But it's generally just one thought... were you always like that? Or is just more recent?" They had grown up in the same town, but she and Madock rarely, if ever, ran in the same circles. "Does it affect you when you play sports?"
"I've just always been like that." he shrugged. "At least I think I have. I dunno. And no, not really. I mean when I'm playing football, it's like... my whole brain is full of everything football I guess. I dunno. It's like there's this part of me that just shuts off and football is all I think or feel or do at that time ya know? It's weird. I can't even begin to explain it." Madock said, shrugging a little. "It's kinda confusing actually."
"I think it's interesting," Jessalyn countered with a small shrug of her own. "Maybe it's just the really important things in your life sort of take precedence in your brain? That's why you're able to focus only on football when you're in that situation. It's a lovely little quirk, I think."
Madock couldn't help but smile at that. "I'm pretty capable of keeping my attentions focused when you're around too..." he pointed out. "What's that supposed to mean? You're already important to me?" he grinned, already thinking that was perhaps the case.
Jessalyn grinned and shrugged nonchalantly, not wanting to be too eager in agreeing with him. "Maybe so! It certainly makes sense, doesn't it? Maybe I'm some kind of distraction repellent for you. As long as you have me around, you'll be able to focus," she teased.
"Maybe. Guess you'll just have to be around like all the time." he grinned. Hell, it sounded good to him. He wasn't going to get tired of her anytime soon and he was fairly certain of that. Jessalyn Weiss, distraction repellent, just what every Madock Korey needed.
