Complaints and Violence Become My Only Friend
Who: Nixie and Trigger
When: Right after this
Where: In the river
Warnings: Violence, possibly bits of gore
For all The day had gone something like Nixie had expected. She'd gone to look at the boat that Charlene had mentioned the other day and decided that she'd much rather continue living with her sister. Not because her boat was any better, it was actually worse, but because she wanted to be able to keep an eye on Charlene. She'd quite literally said that there was no way she'd stop seeing that were-girl, but at least Nixie could make sure that... Nixie stopped swimming, feeling something echoing through the water that was not right, noises that were too loud and... her eyes widened in horror; Charlene was screaming.
Thoughts scattered, Nixie swam as fast as she could towards the noises that were wrong. She was perhaps a hundred yards away when she picked up the scent of blood and her heart thudded painfully against her ribs as she heard Charlene's shrill cry again. She rounded the corner at the same moment that her sister lifted herself out of the water, vanishing into the world above and leaving behind a trail of blood. Then Nixie saw the rocking boat and her eyes began to burn as she put two and two together. Or really, just assumed that whoever was on that human contraption was the reason her sister was bleeding and screaming in a way that Nixie had only heard once. Is she dying?? That was the thought racing through the mermaid's mind when she threw all of her strength and speed into a strike against the boat, and then another, hammering at it with everything in her. She had no idea where Charlene had gone, or if she had even left the water willingly... her sister could be dead, and all because she'd been idiotic enough to come here, to trust that humans wouldn't hurt her. Stupid stupid stupid! A cry wrenched its way out of Nixie's throat as she dug the claws she had into the boat, wishing she had a strong rock to break through with. Sink the damned thing, see if the human could swim. See if it liked getting bled. The mermaid had always jumped to the worst conclusion, but even if Charlene was okay it didn't matter, she was hurt.
