Old school games are the best
Who: Hap, Hap's kids (NPCs) & Ross
When: Mid-afternoon
Where: The Arcade
"And that is how it's done," Hap crowed as the imaginary crowd on the screen cheered for him. He smirked over at his glowering son, rubbing a hand on head after he slung his guitar controller off and put it back. "Aw, don't sulk now, boy, one day you might be as good as your old man."
"You should be trying to be as good as me, old men are supposed to not be used to these high-tech games," Deangelo informed him as he ducked away, smoothing his hair back out while checking to make sure that no one had seen. A few guys his own age snickered as they walked past. "Thanks for embarrassing me. Again."
"Sunday tradition, you should be used to it by now," Hap laughed. Every Sunday for as long as he could remember the whole family had come to the arcade, even if his daughter did not care very much for the games. And every Sunday he would beat Deangelo at whatever game he picked before letting him wander off and play on his own or with his friends. It was a comfortable thing to him and, no matter how much he griped and moaned, he knew that Deangelo really enjoyed it. "But alright, I've whupped you enough for one day, go off and make sure no one's eyeballing your sister before you play." His son grinned at him before turning and hurrying off, hurt feelings over having lost already healing.
Stretching a bit, Hap started towards his favorite game in the arcade - Pac-man. He was a little surprised to find someone else already there, a man his own age at that, but he overcame it quickly and stepped up next to the game to peer at the screen. "Damn man, not a bad score at all," Hap whistled. He was never shy around people, especially not in Scarlet Oak. The ones who did not know him adjusted quickly and if he found someone he did not know he liked to fix that. If only because it was exactly what Tanya would have done. "Best watch out or you'll take the high score away from me."
