Myra broke out into a run, her hair whipping around her. She just wanted to get the hell out of this school. She ran into the parking lot and straight to her car. The door opened with an audible click and she slammed it shut as soon as she got inside of it.
Why does it even matter? Psalm's words kept echoing in her head. Now that she was in the safety of her car, she couldn't stop crying. That was such an incredibly cold thing for him to say.
Light hit her eye for a moment and she blinked before she looked down at her necklace. It was one of those ridiculous twenty-five cent rings you could get in the machines from k-mart. Why did she still have it? Because Psalm gave it to her, of course. It was a big deal too, because it had Wolverine from the X-men on it and Psalm was obsessed with him. When the ring got too big for her to actually wear, she put it on a chain.
Her fingers gripped the plastic ring as she curled toward her steering wheel. Maybe Psalm was right. Maybe she didn't know him anymore. It was like someone stabbed her right in the heart. The thought of never getting to talk to him again hurt her so bad.
