Nixie had passed by several pieces without a second glance, dismissing them as a poor rendition of anything, but there were a few that caught her eye and caused her to linger, studying them with an eye that'd been looking at art for longer than any of these things had probably existed. So many modern things, Nixie thought with a roll of her eyes as she tried to make sense of the one she was in front of now. What was it even supposed to be? It looked like a mass of things, but according to the little label at the bottom it was supposed to be a representation of... no, she didn't know what that meant at all.
Still trying to figure out what she was looking at, Nixie was pulled out of her world by a voice. Oh wonderful, a human, the mermaid thought with a twist of her lips as she turned her head to take in the man. He was asking if she was enjoying herself... why on earth would he care? She could never understand that about humans, asking questions that the answer to didn't really matter. They didn't affect anything, especially when they didn't even know each other. And it's pointless because he's not going to get an answer.
Nixie blinked at him, folding her arms across her chest. No, she wasn't enjoying herself because she hadn't found her sister and she wasn't in the best of moods because this art was nothing like she'd expected to find. This is why I miss the ocean. So, she simply shrugged her shoulders in reply.
