Welcome to my life, tattoo. We've a long time together, me and you.
Who: Remy and Lia
When: Noonish
Where: Dog-Ink Tattoo

Since Mati had, literally, showed up on her door step, Remy felt lighter and happier than she had in years. The debacle between her and Ren pushed from her mind, she focused on tattoos and Mati. Especially the bit about her powers being stronger with him around, she has just done a protection spell on her house last night with her Aunt and she found it was easier for her to keep up. Although today she was feeling particularly drained from it and another smaller spell she did on Mati this morning.

She now sat at her station, half heartedly reading a book and wanting nothing more than to tattoo or talk to someone she didn't work with. While almost everyone at Dog-Ink was nice and she enjoyed working there, sometimes she just needed to be around other people. Remy was easily bored like that.

Her morning had been less than stellar. First the fight with Torque, then no hot water for her shower. Of course, being super cranky, she yelled at both Alywn and Cat, who were currently hiding from her under the couch. She was sure they were plotting to scratch her later to get back at her and deep down she couldn't blame them. Rather than continue to be cranky at them, she climbed into her Jeep and drove through town, needing time to herself. And it helped when she blasted rock music and drove a little faster than usual. Of course, she was reminded that Torque was the one who fixed her car and helped her that day. Cursing to herself, she found herself downtown. And passing Dog Ink.

Sure it was yet another place that was reminding her of Torque, but she knew she had a friend inside. And a tattoo appointment. Her notebook, the one containing the sketch Quentin had done. She parked and pulled out her phone, sending him a quick text seeing when he was free to come hold her hand.

Pushing the door open, she looked around. Lia smiled just a hint as she saw her fellow former New Yorker. "Hey."

Remy had just decided to reorganize her station again when the door opened, she looked up and seen Lia. She smiled at the New Yorker, glad to see a face that wasn't always around the shop, placing her book down she stood up. "Hey, what's up?" She said walking toward the other woman with a large smile. It felt and probably looked out of place on Remy's face, but she couldn't help it, Mati's sheer existence made her feel happier.

As she took in Lia, Remy noted that she didn't look all that happy. "You didn't have an appointment, did you?" Remy asked, changing course to the counter, she wanted to check the appointment schedule to double check.

She shook her head and tucked her hair back. "No. Was in the neighborhood and I've waited too long for this tattoo. I want to make an appointment." The only thing keeping her from doing it in that exact moment was Quentin. Speak of the devil, she pulled out her cell to see that he was pretty much free any time and she slid her phone back in her pocket. "That's my moral support. When are you free to do it?"

Lia knew nothing of tattoos. Fishing in her bag, she pulled out her note book. "I don't know if you remember the designs I showed you, but I am gonna go with this one." She pointed to the design with the two fairies, one hidden among rose petal wings. It was different, pretty and in that moment, she missed the woman she was getting it for. If Catherine were around, she would have been the first person she called that morning after the fight with Torque. As it was, Marie wasn't answering her phone and she knew that meant she had forgotten it at home. Lia cleared her throat, trying to bring her back to the here and now. Nothing about this day was going well for her.

Looking at the schedule, she found it empty and her face fell momentarily. "I'm free pretty much all weekend not accounting for walk-ins." There weren't a whole lot of them, most people usually came in for touch-ups or peircings. "I'd ask you if you wanted to do it now, but as you can see I'm completely swamped." She said sarcastically. "And you're lacking your moral support." Remy added with a smile. It seemed strange to her that she needed someone with her, but she shrugged internally. She was so used to getting tattoos and even doing a couple on herself, that is seemed weird when people needed someone there.

Craning her neck to see the design, Remy examined it. She'd probably want it in colour and with something so small Remy would be able to do it as well, if not better, than her usual black and white. "Oh yeah, I remember this. Looks good, I like it. Were you thinking colour or black and white? My speciality is black and white, but I'm really good with colour too and this one would be no problem." She said, not wanting to dissuade her only potential client.

Lia let out a brief laugh. "Yeah, if I knew he was free right now, I'd have him come down, but he's busy painting or something." She shrugged. "How about tomorrow?" It wasn't that she needed someone but he had offered to hold her hand, which she appreciated. Also, there was the fact that he had drawn it for her. Maybe he wanted to see the finished product first. Besides, he was one of the few people she could count on in town.

"Color. Definitely color. And I'm thinking right here." She shifted and spread her fingers over the space above her left hip, so it would peek out over her waistband. Hide able for work, but something she could see, enjoy and show off if she were to wear a bikini. "If it's not going to be a problem." Lia sighed softly. Her brain was all over the place.

"Tattooing really isn't something to be afraid of, I mean after awhile it just starts getting annoying." She offered, trying to be nice, but her voice was a little uncaring even though she didn't mean for it too sound that way. Remy smiled as warmly as she could, as if too enhance her words and push aside her tone.

The hip, Remy was pretty sure she suggested that spot but was unsure. "Nice, I like doing colour tattoos," She did so many black and white it was nice to do the occasional colour. "Not at all, you should see some of the places I've tattooed." she said with a little laugh, waving her as if brushing Lia's words aside. There were quite a few places she wondered why anyone would want a tattoo there, mainly having to do with inner thighs and the like.

She looked at her and felt she should explain herself. "I'm not afraid. A little nervous, but not afraid. He just designed it and he was joking around about owing me one and coming to hold my hand." Shrugging, she closed the book for the moment. "Actually, you know him. Quentin? Getting the marina tattoo? We have a couple of friends in common." Friend seemed like a loose word in regards to Torque, but it was the first that came to her mind.

Laughing with her, she ran a hand through her hair. "I can't even imagine. I'm sure this is pretty tame compared to other places." Lia smiled and shook her head. "I'm sorry. I'm having one of those off days were everything seems to be going wrong and I can't get out of my own way."

It had been a while since she got her first tattoo and Remy could remember having butterflies and that's about it. "Well, either way you're in good hands. I hate to be conceded but I'm a really good tattoo artist." Which was a lie, Remy didn't hate to be conceded. Most of the time she enjoyed it but that wasn't the kind of thing you tell people, not unless you wanted to seem like a jackass. "Oh yeah, I remember him. You know him?" A couple, eh? Remy tried going through the people she knew in Scarlet Oak and then gave up. "So, who else do we have in common?"

"I don't think you even want too." Remy joked, making a face and then laughing a little harder. "It's fine, we all have them sometimes." she paused, drumming her fingers on the counter. "So, do you want to, like, talk about it or something?" she asked so awkwardly she almost wanted to introduce her head to the desk.

She nodded. "From what I hear, you are the best." That would be why she was going to her. That and she was the only one she knew in town. "Yeah. I do. He's a nice guy, you know?" A nice guy who was coming over for dinner that night. She should pick up food on her way home. What the hell was she going to make? What was she in the mood for? Not really much of anything.

"Torque." She tucked her book away, not even sure herself how that word came out of her mouth. A little angry, mostly hurt and sad. A tinge of disappointment? Perhaps. Lia shrugged. "Started with talking to Torque this morning actually. He's going back to the Marines. Tomorrow. And then from there it went beyond downhill. Not hot water, my cats are made at me, stubbed my toe." Sighing, she looked at her.

"Small town." She commented, because it was and it unsettled her. She was too used to the hugeness of New York where no one knew each other outside of certain communities and you rarely (as in never) ever saw the same person twice on the street. Here Remy could walk down the street and see faces she recognized from previous days. "The tattoo he wants is pretty cool, I sketched out a design he ended up choosing." She nodded her head, not really knowing what else to say.

Remy arched an eyebrow, apparently this was a really small town. "Wait, what? He's leaving? W-what about Petite--" she shook her head, anger starting to ebb into her good mood. "Patience? He's just going to leave her?" A thousands things were running through her mind as she processed Lia's words. Jerk! He's leaving and Patience is just going to be what, dumped on the side of the road? Remy fought the urge to find him that instant and kill him, nearby on the wall a framed picture cracked and then slammed into the ground. Flinching and grinding her teeth, Remy breathed out hard and swallowed, composing herself enough to have an actual conversation with Lia.

She nodded. "Yeah, he showed me the sketch. I think it'll be pretty awesome when its done. And he seems pretty psyched about it." Lia's smile was small, but Quentin was one of those friends she was still getting to know. She knew it was his parents marina that would grace his skin and she thought it was going to be something unique, which was probably what he was going for.

So he hadn't told her. Oh well. Lia was still pissed enough at him not to care. "Yeah. Something about another uncle on her father's side or something. Personally, I think it's a load of shit." There she goes again. She was really going to have to stop doing that, opening her mouth, especially where Torque was concerned. "Two of his Marine buddies came to see him yesterday and this morning, I find him in his uniform and he tells me he's going back, that's it's going to be better for everyone, blah blah blah."

The muscles in Remy's jaw tightened and she clenched her hands into fists, visible signs of the anger she was trying hard to suppress. How could he leave? Doesn't he know how much Patience loves him, selfish fucking bastard! "Of course it's a load of shit. He's... he's just being a fucking coward." Remy shook with the force of her anger now and she took a deep breath, trying to calm herself. This was something only a spell could fix, but she'd do that later and maybe, just maybe, Torque might live.

The very fact that things weren't exploding around her was a testament to how much restraint Remy had. Aside from the picture frame that lay in pieces on the floor, she was doing pretty good and she was mildly proud of herself. Although she didn't like to think about it, Remy knew she had another power and she'd played with it before, but mainly it came out when she was angry.

"So, what are your cats named?" Remy said, changing the subject abruptly because she wasn't about to let Lia go on and potentially hurt her.

That was exactly what she'd said. How could he just leave that little girl like that? Lia felt a little better knowing that Remy agreed with her on this situation. But it was clear that her reaction was a little more angry than Lia's had been. She had been upset that morning.

It was clear that he hadn't thought about how it would effect the people in his life. Both women were upset by it. How was Patience going do react? She was his niece, and he was all she had in the world. Sure, his parents were still around, but he had been given the responsibility. Not them.

The subject change made her blink, but she understood why it came. "Cat is the one I've had the longest. Named her for the cat in Breakfast at Tiffany's. And then Alwyn. He kind of found me yesterday. He's interesting to say the least."

The way she'd grown up had ensured that Remy always reacted with anger when faced with something emotional. She'd always been that way, ready to jump down someones throat if she was faced with her own emotions or feelings. Not one to embrace how she was feeling; anger was always an easy emotion for Remy, something she could get behind and understand where she stood with it.

Remy nodded and smiled tightly, trying to shake the anger that coursed through her every muscle. "I was never a fan of Audrey Hepburn, but that was a great movie." she answered truthfully, Remy never understood the hype over her. Irene Dunne and Katherine Hepburn had always been her favourites.

"I have one too, his name is Mati." she said, instantly understanding what Lia was talking about. Mati was a strange creature indeed and the fact that she embraced him so quickly wasn't lost on her. Remy had no idea that Lia was anything special, she knew enough that only Elementals and Witches got them, so Lia had to be one of the two.

She nodded. Not everyone liked Audrey, but she had always been a fan. Lia has liked the old movies when she was a kid, watching them with her Gram. It was a nice tradition. But she shook off the memories and focused on the other woman talking to her about own cat. The other woman seemed to get it, get what Alwyn was and a silent understanding that they were both more than they seemed passed between them.

Her stomach rumbled, audibly. It made her blush a little, remembering that she hadn't had breakfast as she had planned to. "Hey, you wouldn't happen to be hungry, would you?"

Remy forced yet another smile, this one coming easier than before as she pushed her anger out of her mind momentarily. She had someone to talk too now and as long as they stayed away from the topic of Torque, Remy was sure she would be able to hold her composure. And possibly forget about her anger until she was left alone again. "Fucking starving," Remy answered with a playful smile. "Sunny's is just down the block."

Of course Lia probably already knew that, it was were the two women first met and Remy shook her head at herself. "Just let me go grab my coat and we can head out, kay?" she threw over her shoulder as she ran to the back to get her jacket. Reappearing a couple seconds later she she offered Lia a crooked smile and headed for the door.

"Thank God." She needed food. Things wouldn't be pretty if she didn't get food. Not that she was sure she was starving but she did need to eat something. And then there was the dinner she was going to be having that night, but even that she wasn't really looking forward to as much and she liked hanging out with Quentin. Stupid Torque and his randomly deciding the Marines was more important than the rest of them.

They made their way toward the diner that they had first met in, reminiscing over New York and how much they had missed it. She realized that other than that fact and their two friends, she wasn't sure what else they had in common. Well, that and the fact that they were both 'more than they seemed', though that sounded like the tagline to a bad movie.

Forcing a laugh out around the yell struggling to free itself from her chest, Remy gave Lia a smile and shrugged on her coat. Checking the pockets to make sure they still held her phone, wallet and cigarettes. She'd taken up smoking Djarum Blacks again after she spotted them in a store in Ann Arbor, they smelled amazing and tasted even better. Once outside she lit up a long, black smoke and inhaled. "Mati should be here soon, you can meet him." she looked at Lia through the smoke of her clove.

She hadn't really introduced him to anyone else but her Aunt and she had met her own earlier that morning. So far he was living a pretty sheltered life and Remy liked it that way, especially after the news of that Jerry guy going insane after killing his Familiar.

The only familiar she had occasion to met was her own and she had found him very helpful. At least until she freaked out that morning. Maybe she could get some catnip on her way home as an apology. She still was getting used to having a familiar around and she had gone and made him mad all because she was upset.

Her bag shifted and Lia pulled it over her shoulder. "You like having a cat?" she asked. She wasn't sure what she would have done had she gotten something completely different, something she wasn't prepared to care for.

"Actually, yeah. He's won't let me buy him food, he says he can catch it himself but he likes sleeping in my bed. Says it's cold over here." Remy supposed she should tell Lia that her 'cat' wasn't exactly of the house variety and that he was significantly larger than one. "Mati's an Ocelot, not a house cat," she added in explanation of her previous statement. "He's from Mexico."

Once they reached Sunny's, Remy took another and final drag from her cigarette and then outed it on a nearby wall. She held the door open for the other woman and found a booth, sliding into it easily.

Cold? When she explained more about her familiar, she nodded and was now more curious and more interested in meeting Mati. "Don't think I've ever seen an Ocelot," she said as they headed into the diner, thanking her for holding the door. "Alwyn is a black cat, which is kind of funny. Probably would be more ironic if I was a witch." Which of course narrowed the field as to what she was. It had never been a discussion between the woman.

A waitress dropped off menus with waters and took drink orders. At this point, she wasn't opposed to Remy knowing what she was and that brought the grand total to three people in this town who knew. Soon to be two. "I'm an air," she said as she twirled her straw through her water.

"He's a little larger than most house cats, but he's not huge either." she supplied, looking out the window as if expecting him to be there. Remy raised her eyebrows, so she wasn't a witch that meant she was an Elemental and she'd probably have to tell what she was. Fuck. Shifting uncomfortably in the booth, Remy laughed as convincingly as she could and was surprised to find that it was actually pretty good. "I never thought of that, there must have been a witch who got a black cat."

After taking the menu and asking the waitress for a coke, Remy turned back to Lia. Nodding her head she gave the woman a smile, "Born witch." she answered shortly. Feeling just a little naked at exposing something so central to her, Remy returned to the menu. "Level 3 Black and Level 2 White." she added, glancing momentarily over her menu. She might as well fess up to her levels, why not take a running jump off the cliff instead of just tumbling awkwardly?

The waitress came back with their sodas before Lia could say anything more about herself. She ordered a burger and fries and slid her menu across the table at the waitress. Once Remy had ordered and the waitress had gone again, she pulled her hair back into a low knot.

"I'm a level 3 myself. And a level 1 reader." She smiled sheepishly. "Means I play with tarot cards. Working on honing that skill." It was always interesting to have that conversation with someone.

Remy took a sip from her coke and then ordered herself a bowl of vegetable soup and a side of fries. She tucked a piece of stray hair behind her ear and handed the menu back to the waitress with a half smile.

"You're a Reader too? That's pretty cool." she said, nodding her head and playing idly with the salt and pepper shakers. Living with her parents they had worked closely with a few psychics and once of them was a Reader. The woman herself had been pretty nice to Remy, which threw her off but she read her cards and basically told her to get the fuck away from her parents. "I'm sort of telekinetic." she said before she could stop herself. Wincing lightly, Remy smiled at Lia and then took a long gulp from her coke.

She nodded. "I'm not the best, but I'm working on it." It was something she admittedly hadn't focused on in a couple of days. Perhaps if she had, she would have seen this whole thing coming. Perhaps she had a date with her cards later. They were likely mad at her and she didn't want that. Taking a sip of her soda, she silently vowed to herself that she would spend sometime with her cards later. Who knows, maybe it would help her make sense of everything.

"Wow, that's cool." She knew all too well that there were downsides to that and that the woman wasn't likely enjoying Jean Grey-like abilities. Then again, the character had kind of lost it and eventually become Phoenix, so maybe that wasn't the best of examples. But Lia knew how had it was. After all, she was friends with Quentin and had borne witness to his little drinking fiasco the other night.

Remy nodded back and took a sip from her coke the same time Lia did. It was definitely a little on the awkward side and her head was still back at the shop, wanting to punch Torque in the face or yell at him. Something that didn't involve forcing smiles and small talk, she liked the other woman but right now she was angry. And not admitting to the hurt.

"Sometimes, when I'm feeling lazy." she joked. It was true, when she was feel spectacularly lazy, she'd try and use her telekinesis to do whatever it was she didn't want to get up to do. "Most of the time it's kind of a pain." she added, the lack of control she exhibited over her anger and in turn her powers could get in the way. She had enough control over her powers to make sure whatever she exploded or threw across a room was small and wouldn't hurt anyone.

Lia nodded. Though she didn't understand personally, she knew how much it could effect a person, especially if they were extremely emotional. Like she had been at the tattoo parlor. She did understand what it was like for powers to go haywire. That happened when she had talked to Torque but she had quickly quelled that. Thankfully. She remembered all too well the night she'd left her parents' house.

It was a few moments before their food arrived and Lia found herself lapsing into thought. And that was never good. She looked sheepishly at the woman sitting across from her. "Sorry. Been a long morning. But look, food!" A welcome distraction. Lia felt like she was the queen of fail that day.

As Lia went silent, it gave Remy time to think about the news she had brought and for her to get angrier. Now wasn't the time though, so she opted for thinking about anything but the news and Torque. "It's alright." she said shortly, accidentally taking a bit of her anger out on Lia. Remy took a deep breath and mentally shook her head out, trying to get a handle on the anger that was threatening to make things explode. "Sorry, I didn't mean that. Just been a little tense lately."

Forcing herself to give a sincere as possible smile, Remy was thankful that the food showed up. "Sometimes I wish I could eat meat. I haven't had a burger in years." she said, looking at Lia's plate. It was hard when she had a craving for them and it was one of those times where all she wanted was a burger. "I'm a vegetarian," she explained. "My stomach can't really process meat."

She smiled softly. "It's alright. I completely understand. I wasn't exactly the kindest person today myself." Lia thought back to her cats and really wanted to make it up to them. What exactly she could do, she wasn't sure, but she knew they couldn't really stay mad at her for too long.

"I admire you for becoming a vegetarian. I'm not sure I've got the will power to do that." Lia was a meat eater and that wasn't going to change. Besides, in this moment, the burger was very much so welcome. She wanted something comforting. And it was either this or meatloaf, both of which are mostly meat.

This time Remy gave her a real smile, she wished she could be more forgiving like that. It was hard for her though, to forgive people and trust them to not do it again.

"You really shouldn't," she laughed. "The only reason I stopped is because I get horrible stomach aches if I eat meat." The first time she realized that she couldn't process meat Remy got angry and later that night ended up getting her ass kicked by some big bitch from Hoboken. Eventually she got over it and stopped trying to eat meat, but for the first few years she didn't like telling people she was a vegetarian.

"Wow, that sucks." Lia didn't know what she would do if she couldn't enjoy a tasty steak or a burger when the mood struck her. It would have made her very, very sad. But then again, she did know people who were lactose intolerant and still insisted on putting milk in their coffee because it tasted terrible without it. And she couldn't blame them, but still. It wasn't exactly a pleasant thing. "How long has it been?"

"It did at first, I've gotten over it though. I still get cravings, which sucks." It was also one of the reasons why she smoked so much, if she got a craving she'd just have a smoke and would almost immediately get over the craving. Some people got over their craving for it quickly and easily, but Remy was from the South and meat was something she grew up on. "Oh god, about... four and a half years? Yeah, four and a half. I've broken a couple times though and paid the price." she said, nodding her head and almost forgetting about how angry she was.

Cravings for anything sucked when you gave it up. Not that she knew that personally, but still. And something like meat had to be ever tougher. Lia tried not to think about it as she took another bite of her burger. "Jeeze. Hope what ever you broke for was worth it later." She had a feeling it was.

Taking a sip of coke, she watched the other woman for a moment. Maybe a change of topic from food. "So what are all your tattoos?" she asked, curious.

If she had anything to say about her self control it was that she only broke for the very best, well, until recently. She shook the thoughts from her head and continued on. "New York steaks are always worth it, in my opinion anyway." she said with a smile, picking up a fry and popping it into her mouth.

"Various meanings and things, you know? It would be easier if you picked one that you thought wasthe most interesting," she said, pushing her fries away and deciding she'd eat her soup first.

"That, I can full agree with you on." Lia missed the food options of the city. She could have practically anything she wanted to eat and it was all a stone's throw away from her apartment. There was no need to drive, hell, no need to take the subway. It was her city and she missed it a little. At least the woman sitting across from her knew what that was like.

She looked at Remy's tattoos and pointed to the one that was peeking out through her top. "Well, what about that one?"

Being in the city was beyond any of the experience. You could get anything and everything you wanted, when ever you wanted. It was always open and the odds that what you wanted was within walking distance of your place were high. In Scarlet Oak nothing was ever opened, or so it seemed to Remy and she frequently had to run into Ann Arbour.

Looking down at what she could see of her tattoo, Remy smiled. "It says 'the only thing we ever want is more' which, I think is true. People are never satisfied with that they have," she said, eating a few more fries and taking a sip of her coke.
