Who: Annie and Hal
Where: University of Michigan Hospital
When: 9:00am
"I told you, give me the bloody damn waivers and let me out of here," Hal demanded for the fifteenth time since he'd awoken an hour ago. Everyone who'd come in to poke and prod him and such had gotten them same request. Granted, each progressive request was getting less pleasant.
He didn't need to be in bloody hospital. Yes, he bloody hurt all over, especially after the bastard tetanus shot they'd insisted he had. He ached, had chills and his stomach had completely decided to betray him. His back especially was still screaming at him. He had cuts all over his feet and legs and a few on his arms from wading through the debris completely starkers.
But he was fine. And Fiona wasn't. He'd ask about her straightaway and gotten a lukewarm answer at best. She was in surgery. As if that was going to make him feel better.
Worse still, they'd likely made Annie wait all bloody night in the waiting room, same as him, to see him. Hal scowled at the nurse who looked like she wanted to strangle him. He was being difficult, he knew. But he felt like shite and they weren't listening to him.
Which just made him more cross. The nurse threw up her hands. "I'm getting the woman who's been waiting on you all night," she told him. Yeah, it was bending the rules, but maybe she could talk some sense into the idiot. "You really should be resting, Mr. Killborne."
Hal resisted the urge to throw her a two finger salute. But that was childish and he wasn't quite that irate. He settled down in a chair to wait for Annie.
