TIME UPDATE
DATE: Friday, June 12, 2009.
WEATHER: Drizzly and humid, with severe fog and fog advisory through-out the morning hours. The fog lifts by eleven AM, but the day is still dark and damp.
EVENTS: Everything that's come up in the news the past week has been dropped, with all focus going to breaking news. Seven Scarlet Oak teenagers were violently abducted yesterday, on the way home from a camping trip up north. The story makes national news and is dominating every media. Families were notified yesterday, and last night the 11 o'clock news reported an abduction. Today, now that all families have been informed, the names of the missing teens have been released. They are Freddie Barker (17), Katie Callahan (18), Lily Flores (16), Tilly Jenkins (18), Claire Korey (18), Rhys Lockwood (17), and Myra Lowell (17). Several other teenagers were involved in the abduction, but not taken.
The official report and statement says that the group of teens, traveling in five vehicles, were heading home from a camping trip when they were run off the road with what was later identified as police-grade spikes. Several unidentifiable men and women came at them with guns and tranquilizers, and one of the abducted teenagers may have been shot and wounded during the scuffle. One of the assailants was killed in the attack, but has not yet been identified. Drawing heavy attention to the matter is that those left behind have all gone on record saying one of the attackers had a distorted, blurry face, causing speculation that magic was involved.
The rescued teenagers, who have not been publicly identified, were kept overnight in St. Mary's Hospital of Saginaw, and are all expected to be released today. Due to journalists all over the country flocking to the scene, police escort back to Scarlet Oak is expected.
Searches have started for the missing teens, with volunteers driving from all over the country to help aid in any way. A candlelight vigil for the missing teens will be held on the football field at Scarlet Oak High School at dusk. A reward of $50,000 has been offered for information leading to the rescue of the teens, with that figure expected to increase.
In lesser news, auditions for Into the Woods start today at Scarlet Oak's community theater. Auditions run all day, with callbacks through-out the weekend.
With all the coverage of the missing teens scandal, Vampires Versus Zombies has quietly wrapped filming and left the area.
