a good excuse to be a bad influence
Who: Angeline and Esmeralda
Where: Esmeralda's aunt's house
When: Mid-afternoon
Esmeralda had really not suspected that she would find someone in this little circle of hell also called suburbia or Scarlet Oak, as the natives seemed to prefer calling it, who caught her interest. Or shared her interests. She had thought that if that chance ever arose it would be in the form of Marie showing up because she thought she was starting to forget her or something very close to that. Instead she had met the funny little blonde fire elemental who thought she was tough - it was adorable, really, how fire elementals always thought they were 'hot shit' - and then there was the real cherry of the town, so far at least, in the form of another demonic witch. So Angeline Moriarty wasn't born, so that actually mattered, but Esmeralda was willing to overlook it this one time and give her a chance. She'd done a little research and discovered that the other redhead had a well-respected witch bloodline on her father's side. That made her better than any other learned witches, she'd just had the misfortune to be born a were instead. Poor thing. But that poor thing was the only one in these public schools who had snorted when she'd caught her cursing a classmate so...
Really, things could have been worse.
"CHRISTIAN!" Esmeralda shouted as she realized that the athame she'd been looking for the past half hour was actually not misplace, it was missing. And so far there'd only been one person guilty of going through her things. It had to be the cousins she didn't despise on sight. "So help me if you don't bring me my athame right now I am going to whip up a hex that will turn you bald."
"Esmeralda!" her aunt's scandalized tone made Esmeralda roll her eyes, but her threat had the desired effect. Her sheepish cousin showed up with the athame in hand.
"Just get your parents to get you one, kid, and stop stealing mine. You don't want to know the things I've done with it." She gave a wink, but before she could turn back to her room there was the sound of the doorbell. "Got it!" And the redhead darted past her other cousin and slipped around her pale-faced aunt to reach the door. "Stop looking at me like I've cursed your Cheerio's," Esmeralda said as she pulled the door open. "It's the Shredded Wheat you've got to watch out for." A smile curved the corner of her mouth at the sight of the person on the doorstep. "Angeline! Honey, I'm glad to see you. Another minute alone with these people and I'd have cursed them all." Was still thinking about doing so, really. Since her gloves were firmly in place, Esmeralda was able to reach out with the hand not clutching a sharp blade to take Angeline's elbow. "Don't even bother saying hello to them, it's not like they matter. My room is this way."
Her aunt was now in the box staring at the Shredded Wheat like it was covered in spiders and Esmeralda had to snicker. "She thinks I cursed the cereal."
