These had been a rough couple of days. It wasn't enough that Desi had been witnessing first-hand her own sister's heartbreak, fighting with Lauren - who acted and sounded like an infantile demon - and pretty much breaking off her friendship of years with Nysa for Emilia's sake. Now Reggie had come out of the daze in deep trouble with Keelin, who seemed to have run off God knew where for reasons even Desi hadn't really understood. Suffice it to say, when Crystal had enlisted her to come help, Desi had jumped at the chance. She had not been around when Morgan had left, but she had heard the stories. If this was anything like that, well...Reggie really needed help.
To top it all off, her curling iron was broken, which meant ultimately Desi had just thrown on some jeans a nice jacket and some red lipstick and gotten on her way. And now she was cold, because she had underestimated the weather. Hatee had been left at home for this one, although on second thought since he had liked her so much, maybe Desi should have brought the fox along. But ultimately, it had been decided that the less distractions the better. This was a 'person' thing.
She smiled faintly as she walked up the steps while Crystal spoke. "Yeah I wasn't around but...I heard." The idea that the very first woman Reggie dated after Morgan had up and left too was heartbreaking. And they had seemed to be going on their way to domesticity anyway, so Desi really didn't know nor could imagine what Keelin's problem had been, that she hadn't just asked for a little distance - she had outright left the damn country. Desi sighed, shaking her head. "Oh, this is going to be difficult." Understatement of the century.
What Crystal said about big sisters resonated with her - hell she had been engaging on furious texting with Lauren for the sake of her sister's mind, and she would not stop there if need be. And that was just the most recent example. Desi nodded. "I wish I didn't, but I totally know what you mean." Desi had some experience with the extent of misery to which an earth elemental went if they really committed, but luckily her mother had always had aunt Gia to pull her sideways out of that rut. Reggie...had them, now. She walked into the apartment after Crystal, row scrunching up in sadness upon seeing Bess asleep on the couch. This couldn't be easy for either of the girls. She approached the girl, smoothing a hand over her hair softly before smiling at Reggie's familiar. Who then said something...interesting. In an effort not to make it awkward Desi chose not to confront Crystal with the revelation, but smiled and lowered her head. Well, the sentiment was mutual at least.
When Crystal called for her she nodded, worry washing over her face yet again. "I'm not sure, honestly, but I'll do my best."
