"Oh please," Lane said to his twin with a small snort and a twist of his features into a dismissive sort of expressions, "it's just a little bit of White magic." Harmless really, the sort of thing their mother had wanted them to learn just to be on the safe side. To illustrate his point he spared his focus from the two of them for a moment and concentrated on his palm, or rather the space immediately above it, muttering quietly to himself to focus the energy he was summoning. When the orb of light formed in that space above his palm he smiled and, making sure not to lose concentration on the little glowing ball of magical energy, he turned a smirk in his twin's direction. Point proven, at least in his eyes, he followed after Skye into the living room, keeping his hand up with his orb of light casting a glow around him on the walls and furniture and the countless cobwebs covering everything.
Much like his brother any thoughts he'd been intending to voice were cut off by that unexpected movement of air, it caught at his hair and lifted it momentarily, gently, off his shoulders, brushing across his face and neck. "Whoa." That was probably enough of an answer of Jaye's query and he turned his dark eyes in his twin's direction and then Skye's. "Okay, that one wasn't on me." At least he hoped not because if he really had cursed or jinxed them they were never going to let him forget it.
Something creaked behind them, back in the direction they'd just come from, out in the lobby somewhere or just beyond, and Lane whirled to look that way, lifting his orb of light a little higher so he could stare back through the shadows. Turning to gaze back over his shoulder at his companions he said, "Sounds like we disturbed something."
