don't you dare look out your window
Who: Nora and Zoie
Where: Their apartment
When: Late afternoon
Dean was squeaking, but Zoie hardly heard it over the rush of horrified thoughts in her head. She had stayed home from work after it was recommended by the doctor - and because she was in no fit mental state to go, really - and had been content to spend the whole day marathoning Supernatual again. She had been somewhere in season five, no one was there to make sure she went in order, when she had gotten a text from Layla telling her to switch to the news. So she had, figuring it might be something about that memory thing that had happened, and instead she had seen a police sketch of someone who definitely looked like her. No, not just looked like her, that was her. And she was... it was... this was why horrified thoughts were going through her head, because they had shown that picture next to one of Pastor Daniel Lemuel and the sickening lurch that had accompanied his name and face... Zoie had dropped Dean and made it to the toilet before her lunch came back up. And she had sat there, forehead against the lid, crying. How had she forgotten that? How?! How had she forgotten everything about her life? Though truth be told, her having Marfan's seemed a less important thing than the fact that she had been assaulted by a pastor.
The sound of the TV drew her back out and Zoie sat there on the floor, knees drawn up to her chest with her good arm looped around them while she watched and listened. They wanted anyone who knew anything about that girl - me, about me - to let the police know so that they could contact her for questioning. Questioning!! In relation to a murder! Did I kill him?! Zoie remembered being there and she remembered what had happened, but she did not remember how it ended. She did not remember another man being there. But Daniel was dead and she was apparently one of the last people who had been seen there... I couldn't kill anyone. Could I kill anyone? I'm not strong enough! If she had been strong enough then it never would have happened in the first place... but what if there had been a knife? Or a gun? Even she could have done that.
Zoie's fingers felt numb as she fumbled for her phone and pulled it out, hitting the second speed dial before holding it up to her ear. "Nora?" her voice sounded very quiet to her and she could practically hear the tears that were getting ready to fall. "Have you seen the news?" Did I kill someone?!
