rain check in a downpour
Who: Raphael & Jani
Where: Driving around town
When: Early evening
With the return of her memories, Jani was concerned that she would no longer be welcome as an employee of Mickelson and Long, but it turned out that she needn't have worried. Over the course of four days, they said she had managed to accomplish more in making sense out of their books than her predecessor had accomplished in five years. It didn't surprise her, as from what she could see, whomever had worked her position prior had been little better than an utter moron. Regardless, the magic that had given her freedom from her memories had also provided her the opportunity to land a secure job. Now that she had her memories returned to her, though, it had become time to negotiate her terms of employment.
That had filled her morning, and by the time she was free for lunch, she was quite pleased with how this move to a random town on the map was turning out for her. And then, as she was getting back to work, content in the security she'd acquired that morning, her day brightened even further with the text messages from Raphael. She had, of course, forgotten all about him thanks to that spell, but now her memories were back, and she recalled the chemistry and flirtation they'd had the day she'd arrived in Scarlet Oak, remembered how much she'd looked forward to that rain check for him to give her a 'tour' of the town. And so, she'd had no qualms with making plans for him to pick her up at the end of her work day.
She did wish she had a change of clothes, but she supposed her work clothes would just have to be good enough. And if her clothes were to come off, well, at least she had a fondness for good lingerie. Not that she anticipated her clothes coming off, but she was well aware that there was quite a lot of innuendo between them at that diner last week. By the end of the work day, she was quite looking forward to this tour, despite the rain. And precisely at four o'clock in the afternoon, Jani walked out of her building, umbrella in hand. It meant she had actually ended her work day a few minutes early, but she couldn't bring herself to feel guilty about it.
Opening the umbrella and lifting it to protect herself from the downpour, Jani glanced around for Raphael or his car, which she figured wouldn't be hard to spot, even with the rain.
