She hid around corners and she hid under beds Who: Donna and OPEN! Where: Music store in Scarlet Oak When: Afternoon
There were guns in her bedroom closet.
Donna had been staring at them for the last few days, trying to figure out who they belonged to. She didn't remember ever owning a weapon, and why would she? Nothing here felt threatening to her, and she didn't see why she'd need so much gear to protect herself. That must be what it was for, protection. Donna didn't see another reason.
She was also still trying to figure out why she clearly had pictures of her family around, but none of their numbers in her phone. She should've been able to call her father and see when his next show was, or text Darren to see what he was up to. But nope, there was nothing. Why wouldn't she have a way to contact her family? The thought seemed strange, but she didn't linger on it too long before every day matters caught up to her again. Conan had the antique store to take care of and she was still working at Anywhere But Here, bartending. It wasn't ideal, but it made the time go by quickly, so at least there was that.
With a few hours before she had to be at work, Donna found herself wandering through Scarlet Oak, finding a music store she'd never been in before. If anything was going to bring a smile to Donna's face, it was music, and she plucked her earbuds out of her ears as she went inside. Records were lined along one wall, and she started there, letting her fingers drift over the stacks. A good chunk of her collection was digital, the iPod resting in her pocket evidence enough of that, but nothing beat listening to music on vinyl. Her record player was older than her - had it once been her father's? - and perhaps she'd listen to a few pieces before going to bed, as a way to wind down from work.
Tucking a few albums under her arm, she hummed softly to herself as she continued browsing. If anyone else was in the store, she hadn't noticed. To her, this was heaven, and she was going to enjoy every second of it.
