Life was good.
Work was going along splendidly; her students were happy and untroubled and seemed like they were truly enjoying themselves during class. And home? Homelife was amazing. She had Reggie and their daughters at home and there was such a feeling of love there that she could not deny. She had yet to solve the mystery as to why her clothes and belongings were across the hall (or why it felt as if it was her apartment rather than her cousin’s), but she wasn’t all that concerned, not really. The questions that were left burning in her thoughts she just let them simmer there, Maybe she’d find the answer later.
After school, Keelin came home and immediately set to walking Pugsley. He was just as energetic as usual, but he seemed almost frantic in the way he barked and jumped around her. The puppy had more personality than any animal she ever met and she felt as if he was trying to tell her something. If animals could, that is. She latched his leash and then walked out through the front door of the apartment building. Even though the air was cool, she decided a lengthy walk would be good for Pugsley to spend some of his excess energy. They walked past their usual circuit and moved onto an area full of shrubs.
The bushes rustled as Pugsley sniffed around their bases. His tail began wagging in a whirlwind and a string of barks erupted through his tiny little mouth. Something was hiding in the bushes and Pugsley was bound and determined to figure out what it was.
“What on earth have you found?” Keelin asked him, leaning over so she could peer through the leaves of the bushes.
