can't even speak about Who: Esmi and Lumen Where: SOHS When: Lunch-time
They're all too... something. Esmeralda had actually been behaved through the first three periods of school. She had sat through her classes and been in a state of confusion about what was in the water here. By the time lunch came she was determined to not drink out of the water fountains or eat anything that they made in the lunchroom. The last thing she needed to do was join the ranks of Pleasantville. Mom probably sent me here on purpose to see what happened if I drank the water... goddamn, doesn't anyone here dislike anyone else? There were no glares, no bitter little chit-chat in the girls' room... it was downright unnatural! It was all putting her just a little bit on edge to tell the truth. Which was probably why she did not even pretend to smile when a bright-faced boy with lanky blonde hair stopped in front of her as she was headed to the library - again, she was refusing to eat the food - and held up a pamphlet. Esmeralda just looked at him until he said, "Hi, I'm Danny, and I saw that you're new and thought that maybe you'd like to have lunch and talk about SOAR with me. We're big on unity around here."
Unity. Esmeralda still did not take the pamphlet. Screw unity. And what sort of a name was SOAR anyhow? "Yeah... no."
His smile faltered slightly. "No?"
Now she smiled. "Yeah, no. As in 'I don't want anything to do with your unity group' as in 'I think it's stupid' as in 'everyone isn't the same, stop trying to make it seem like they are'. That kind of no."
The smile was gone now. "You don't like supernaturals or something?"
"Not most of them. Why, are you a special little snowflake?" Esmeralda highly doubted it. The pamphlet floated up in front of her and did a twirl. She snorted and rolled her eyes before giving him a 'seriously?' look. "Psychic, good for you, dime a dozen. Come back when you're a witch and maybe we'll talk. Now get out of my way so I can keep going."
Why was he not moving out of her way? He was just giving her a look like there was something wrong with her. Hey, it's not my fault he was born that way. I'm just telling him how it is. "That's a really bad attitude to have here."
"I don't care what you think about my attitude. It's none of your business." Esmeralda raised her hand and made a distinctive 'shoo' motion. He was still not moving. "Get out of my way or I'm going to show you why it's a bad idea to get in a witch's way." Did she care who heard her? No.
