Keelin woke up with the sound of fabric rustling in her ears and the faint smell of popcorn in her nostrils. She woke up feeling warm and at peace, knowing that the form next to her was none other than Reggie. She did not wake up with any residual guilt or shame from the previous night lingering over her. Nor did she wake up with any thoughts as to why she should not be waking up with Reggie next to her and the girls in front of her. Oh, well, except for the fact that they were on the couch and not in their bed. That was probably why she had that crick in her neck, but it didn’t stop her from smiling at Sarah and Bess as they chimed in their breakfast request.
“Didn’t we just feed you yesterday?” She joked and stretched, groaning a bit as she tried to work the kinks out of her back. Really, she was too old to camp out on the sofa. Without warning, she was suddenly pounced by the puppy whose shrill barks sounded almost desperate and pleading. “Okay, okay!” She grabbed him up and pressed a kiss to his forehead as she moved across the living room. “Breakfast for everyone and then Pugsley gets walked.”
She reached down to scratch Tiger behind his ears before he was darting off towards Reggie, trying to weave around his legs. Keelin followed him into the kitchen and smiled brilliantly at the man of the house. Crick in her neck or not, this was definitely the way to wake up: surrounded by her husband and children. She sat Pugsley back onto the floor and ignored the next string of barks so she could place a warm kiss onto Reggie’s lips. “Good morning,” she beamed.
