No other girl could even begin to compare to Belinda. Of course, he couldn't really remember ever being with anyone else, but he was certain that she was not his first. Not that it mattered. She was his one and only. He waited patiently for her to stir, for her to wake enough to realize he was speaking to her. He barely noticed how dirty he was -- the grime felt perfectly natural -- but he loved the way that Belinda pulled at his filthy, stringy hair. He loved even more the way her smile lit up before she kissed his nose. For a very small moment, she scared him. Her question made him pause, made him wonder if he was doing the right thing, but then he recognized the look in her eyes. Nothing but adoration shone through those large, hazel eyes and that was when T.J. knew he was not making a mistake.
"Of course, I am." He shifted so that he was leaning over her, an arm on either side of her. "I am absolutely crazy about you. You are the most amazing woman I've ever known," Although, none of her specific traits or accomplishments immediately came to mind. He supposed it was nerves; he would have been incredibly smooth had he rehearsed, but this was special. This was from the heart and not fabricated to fit a certain situation. "Belinda, you make me feel like we're the only two people on Earth. I love you and I want us to grow old together." He so rarely used her real name (it felt a little strange on his lips), but he wanted to prove to her that this was very much real and not some game he was trying to play.
"So, yes. I am very serious. Will you marry me?"
He wore a smile that was equally bright and soft as he waited for her answer. Nerves and worry were far away from his mind... until he realized just how ill-prepared for this he really was. His words might have swept her off of her feet, but he was missing a pretty crucial piece of equipment for this sort of thing: a ring. He mentally slapped himself. How could she say yes without a ring? Did a proposal even cunt if there was no diamond to make it official? Idiot. This is why she's going to say no. You never think!
