"I don't know," Zoie admitted, calm for the moment in Nora's arms. Had anyone asked then she would have told them that she was perfectly used to - and fine with - being held by her sister. Nora's presence was even more soothing than their mother's for some reason. Possibly because Angela Irving was undeniably a mother while Nora was her sister and her friend. And she would let her cry without trying to stop her unless her heart got out of control. "He just... does. He says he was in Australia last week, when I had that attack... but he was there... you know, he talked to you." Zoie sniffled. "He said he talked to you while I was asleep, before you could see me. I don't know how it works, he doesn't like to talk about it. Or what he is. I had to work it out for myself." With a bit of help from Daniel, yes, but she was not going to say 'thank you' to the likes of him. She actually hoped he was dead, which shocked her. Zoie had never wished for anyone to be dead before.
Zoie allowed her tears to be wiped away, and she tried to make them stop, but it was not happening. They kept coming, though at least she was not sobbing. If it got hard to breathe because she was sobbing then her heart rate would soar and everyone would panic... she did not need a panic. I need you to believe me, the blonde thought, pulling away from Nora's hands so that she could press her face into her shoulder, not wanting her to see what she was feeling. "I know that, Nora," she whispered. "Just... I don't know. Don't do anything, about this." Regan had taken care of it, whether Nora believed in him or not, and she did not want her sister to go and pay Daniel a visit. Both because she was afraid of what she might find and because if Daniel was not dead then she would find him alive and that would be far, far worse. Nora just needed to stay away from that church. "I know what you did last time a guy hurt me." It had to have been her, she was the only one Zoie had told and her mother probably would have just straight up murdered him. "Instead you can just..." She pulled back, a serious expression on her face as she forced her mood to change. "You can teach me to ride a bike."
