promise I'll be there for you. Who: Kristen and Missy Where: Ann Arbor When: Morning
Like every other mother - or sister, with the occasional father sprinkled in for good measure - Missy came to her feet clapping and whistling when the results were announced for the meet. It had been a long time since she had been here for one of these and she had never realized just how much she missed the feel of it. The exhilaration of the crowd and the pride that whelmed up with knowing that her little sister had been a big part of getting the her team in first place… yeah, it was a good feeling. Even if it was tempered by the fact that she had moved away from everyone else. They all smelled too good, too tempting, and even though she had made sure to eat before they left that morning, she did not want to take any chances. Kristen was worth it. Seeing the smile thrown her way when Kristen landed her vault without stumbling… yes, she had missed this. She was going to have to work extra hard to make sure that she could come to all of these meets. Not just the state ones either, but the little inter-gym ones too. Kristen would like that.
“Hey!” Missy called, leaning down to hug Kristen when she came running up, new medal bouncing against her chest. There was that instant tightening in her throat, a dry ache that came with the scent of Kristen setting off all her ‘that smells delicious’ triggers, but Missy swallowed hard and waited to breathe until the ache had dulled. She would have gone the entire time without breathing, but people might notice that and remark on it and besides, she needed air in her lungs if she wanted to talk. At least she could glamour her fangs gone. The last, the very last, thing she needed was for anyone to find out that she was a vampire. “Ohhhhh, little shiela, you did wonderful!” Missy pulled back so that Kristen could see her smiling. “That was one of the best vaults I’ve ever seen you pull. You didn’t tell me you could do the twist without falling.” This time the little ache she felt had nothing to do with her hunger, but with knowing that she had missed something that important. She still remembered when she landed her first complicated vault, and how proud her mom had been. Kristen deserves to have someone there for her for that. “You have fun?”
