still painting flowers for you Who: Keelin and Reggie Where: Reggie’s apartment When: 8:00 p.m.
“You should definitely watch this one.” Reggie was glad he was paying attention or the DVD case that got flung his way would have smacked him in the face instead of hastily raised arm. He tried to catch it before it hit the ground and missed, frowning at Sarah when the redhead snorted at him. “If you were quicker it wouldn’t have fallen.”
Scooping to retrieve the DVD, Reggie replied, “If you hadn’t thrown it at me then it wouldn’t have fallen.” He paused as he flipped the case to see the title, raising an eyebrow when he did. “The Notebook? Sarah, you’re not funny.”
The teenager smirked. “What? Don’t tell me you’re not going to try to-”
“Sarah!” Reggie could feel the blush starting at his neck. There were things a man just did not talk about with his sixteen-year-old daughter and that was definitely one of them. “I can pick my own movie. Or maybe Keelin will bring one over with her.” He was kind of hoping for that one. Reggie may have been right on the verge of losing his mind while the mess at the high school, but Keelin had gone through it just like Sarah and that meant he had no idea what sort of mood she might be in. Except maybe cranky. Sarah was cranky. Granted, Sarah was cranky because Reggie would not let her out of the apartment… He was going to add something when he realized that he was alone. At some point, Sarah must have wandered off.
’I’ll take some popcorn.’
“Popcorn’s not for you,” Reggie muttered as he, once again, touched up a few petals of the flowers he had grown specifically to give to Keelin tonight. A living little rose bush that could be kept in her apartment like a bonsai tree was better than a bouquet of things that would only dry out and die within a week and so that was what he was giving her. “You get kernels stuck in your throat.”
Tiger flicked his tail, clearly affronted. ’That happened once and I was a kitten.’
“Popcorn’s for Keelin.” As though she had heard her name, a knock sounded on the door. Reggie took one more quick glance around the apartment to make sure it was no messier than normal before he went to open up. “Hey Keelin.” A muffled plop caught his attention and he turned in time to see Tiger putting his face in the bowl. “Tiger!”
’Keelin will not miss a few pieces. Will you, Keelin?’
"...I'm sorry about him. Sarah's mood is infecting everyone."
