This was far from an uncommon thing, but it still stood as the reason why he had not left the church for a few days. He tended to stay inside when he was like this. Some might have called it sulking, but they would not have done it where he could hear. He could not even put a reason on why he felt this way. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that he had not had anything truly fun to do for awhile... which meant that he was starting to get itchy. And it was never, ever a good thing when Daniel got itchy. It usually ended with him poisoning or whole-sale slaughtering his congregation before he moved onto the next one. The problem with that being, naturally, that Scarlet Oak was very, very interesting right now for whatever reason. Well, in general, not directly relating to him since he was bored with what was going on in his immediate surroundings. That was the problem with church-goers; they could be so predictably dull even with someone like him shepherding his ranks.
The knock on the door caught him by surprise, bringing him out of his inanimate daze and he stood, going to answer it because he really had nothing better to do with his time. And oh! When he did? Daniel's smile was wide and genuine down at the small blonde on the other side. This is far more like it. Has my birthday come early? Some people just made the little bell in his head chime wildly and this little gem was one of them. She probably even knew how dependent she was, that was how much it seeped out of her. Delicious. "The doors are always open," he replied, stepping back and motioning for her to come in. He closed the door once she had, hoping the sound of it shutting was enough to cover the snick of the lock sliding shut. "Now, my dear, I am Pastor Daniel. What is it that I can help you with? Surely a pastor is a better reference than a dusty old Bible."
