it's just art for the sake of art
WHO | Cat & Glenda
WHERE | Outside of SOHS
WHEN | Afternoon
Now that the high school was not the playground for worried families, government officials, and reporters, it looked a little like a graveyard. Glenda was intrigued by the thought, which had her out exploring the grounds with her camera in hand. Naturally, the area was still mostly roped off and there was only so much she could see without someone shooing her away and telling her to mind her own business. It wasn’t that she felt particularly compelled to demonstrate the destruction left in the wake of a crisis; Glenda just thought the trashed grounds made good photographs. She’d probably end up selling them to some reporter for a few bucks. The unfortunate thing was that there were only so many shots of the devastation left in the wake of so many people camping out on the grounds she could get from outside of the tape. Just because there were fewer police officers on duty around the school did not mean that there were none, and she found it more than frustrating that there were just too many eyes separating her from crossing the lines and getting some better shots.
After several minutes of taking photos of the ground, Glenda finally turned her lens to the people still milling around the school. Of the handful of people she saw, most of them were officers, standing with their arms crossed or their thumbs tucked into their belt loops. She couldn’t blame them for the bored expression most seemed to have. Without people fighting to get in or out of the school, guarding the building seemed pointless. She doubted very much that anyone who slipped inside now was going to get stuck. Of the people she saw, her eye caught a girl tending to herself, not really snagging anyone else’s attention. With the empty school setting the background of the shot, Glenda started snapping a few pictures of the girl. There were a few of her face, but she played with the zoom on her lens and angled down to the girl’s hands and feet.
In the process of taking her photos, Glenda was unaware of how close she was getting to the girl. After a while, it was only natural that the girl would realize the camera was pointed in her direction, so there was suddenly a shot of her looking right at Glenda. Scowling, the brunette pulled the camera away from her eye and looked up at her focus (when had she gotten down on her knees? all for the sake of a damn good angle). “Just ignore me. Or don’t. Whatever.” She huffed and pushed herself back upright, brushing the damp soil from the knees of her jeans. “Don’t worry about me. This is all just for me, nothing I can really make money off of.” She arched an eyebrow and gestured with the camera. “Can I keep going or are you one of those that wants to sign a release or something? Promise they won’t end up on the internet for anything.”
