Even Jo knew when to quit prying; this was definitely that time as far as this conversation was concerned. The last thing she wanted was to push Sam too far and have what little progress she had made with him go entirely down the train. He was definitely lying, and she was definitely worried, but pushing for the truth wasn't going to do anything right now. And she wasn't stupid; if he had indeed seen another wolf and gotten so nervous about it, more than usual which was saying quite a lot, Jo had to guess it had something to do with his past. She didn't know what, yet, but she would put August on the case and he'd probably enlist others to keep a lookout just in case. They were going to be okay.
Jo smiled softly at Sam, then pushed herself off the ground only to sit on the bench right above. "Okay. Now if you want, get back to your book, I'll get back to...uh..." She looked at her notebook. "This boring crap. The sooner I finish the sooner I can start doodling."
