Sam sensed Jo's relaxation and that helped him to follow suit, a little more of that lingering tension slipping from his frame even though that left his shoulders slumped more than anything. Somehow Sam still managed to look relatively small despite his height, it was something he had unconsciously mastered years ago now and given how accustomed to it he was physically that wasn't likely to fade any time soon. With a nod he acknowledged what she said about August not going out to check potential danger alone and felt a bit better about that. If he was right about what he'd seen he didn't want any of the Summers wolves caught up in it, they didn't deserve it. They hadn't done anything wrong.
That was when she asked him about it again and he felt that familiar but still unpleasant twist of anxiety in his stomach. With a shake of his head he was quiet for a few moments more before he reminded himself he had to respond, it was rude and disrespectful not to. "I-I thought I felt--" If he said what he had actually felt would she be able to keep from going out there? Sam couldn't lie, he was absolutely terrible at it and it was dishonest but he had never wanted to more than he did in that moment. "Another wolf." Briefly he glanced in Jo's direction. "It might have been that female." From when the school had been sealed and no one could get in or out. Jo would remember that. It hadn't been a lie exactly because it wasn't impossible for that to have been the case even though Sam knew that female's scent and hadn't caught it since their paths had crossed for the first time.
