The words Jo spoke did make sense but at the same time they didn't, speaking his mind was a privilege he'd never been afforded and the fact that it was different here was still so strange to him. He was trying though, he really was trying to learn, but with so many contrasts and changes it was just confusing to him, borderline overwhelming. There were a very small number of ways Sam knew how to deal with anything overwhelming and sitting there he knew that every single one of them would upset Jo and that was the exact opposite of what he wanted to do.
Sam didn't even realise he was shaking his head until Jo's voice went quiet and he glanced to the side and down so that his gaze landed on her arm or stomach, something safe and non-confrontational. "A-August can know." Of course he could. August was the Alpha, it was his right to know everything and if anyone could go out there and make sure there was nothing bad and dangerous it was the most dominant wolf in the pack. To Sam that made sense and he felt the fear starting to subside, the tension bleeding from his joints and limbs enough that he no longer looked so tight that he was on the verge of snapping. "Will he go out and look?" There was still a flicker of concern though, the worry that what he thought might be out there really was out there and Jo's brother might get hurt.
