Alicia hated the fact that she was a child sometimes, especially now. She had imagined what meeting her mother would be like and in her mind, she was always very reserved and capable of handling the revelation with ease. She never expected to find herself blown away by the surprise, but here she was with wide eyes and nearly breathless with astonishment. She had seen the woman in her father's dreams, just enough to know who she was and how her father adored her, but dreams did little justice to the woman before her. There was a darkness in her very being, something that drew Alicia to her without the girl entirely realizing. Some might have argued that it was the bond between a child and their mother. Others might say it was something deeper. Whatever it was, Alicia was completely captivated and she wasn't entirely certain that she liked the feeling.
Her emotion was not the only thing she had revealed, however. The secret of knowing that this woman was her mother was now out in the open for both adults to see and they were curious to know how it was she knew the truth. It didn't occur to her to lie to her parents; the fact that she could read little things about people or grab a sense of a dream someone had from a small touch was simply the way she was and there was no reason to lie about that. With her mother so close to her, Alicia could smell wisps of perfume; dreams never gave her more than a vision. Alicia licked her lips and swallowed, hugging Imogene tighter until she heard the porcelain grind in along the joints of the shoulders.
"I've seen her," she answered simply. "I've seen your face before." She mirrored her mother's gesture of reaching out towards her face, but where the brunette faltered, Alicia continued until the tip of her finger brushed against the woman's cheek. She was still stunned and it caused her voice to be low as she spoke again. "He dreams about you."
