A scent that she did not recognize hit her first, but Missy was not surprised by that since she was in a neighborhood not her own, and then the voice. That voice pulled tight every muscle in her body and she was on her feet, whirling before she had even thought it through. Her gun was even in her hand, the safety clicked off. It's a vampire?? The gun was not out because Missy was threatened by this woman who had been on the other end of Jadyn's phone, saying terrible things, it was out because of that scent. It had not taken her too long to learn the general scents of the more common races. Living with a vampire, a were and a psychic helped with that. The amount of time she had been able to spend with Jadyn before she left had given her an idea of water elementals too.
"You." It was a statement, not a question. Missy's hands were steady as the gun focused on the vampire. Jadyn's phone was answered by a vampire. But she is terrified of them! She even skirted away from me... did she leave me for... Her eyes flickered to the items that the dark-skinned woman was holding. Those did not look like things someone would pick up for someone else. Those were... Cecil's, Missy was sure of it. Especially that little blue blanket. Jadyn had not even had Cecil when she had gone missing, had not had him for awhile if she remembered right. All of the reports that had been released indicated that the boy was in his father's care. Had Jadyn gone to get him then they would have known where she was and she would no longer be a missing person. Right? That's right. "Who the hell are you, what are you doing in Jadyn's house and why do you have Cecil's things?" Her voice was surprisingly level considering that she was talking to an unknown vampire. The only reason she had not started shooting was that this woman knew more about where Jadyn was than she did.
