"I wouldn't class this as a little prank but then I'm not a faerie." Zach really failed to see the funny side to all this but maybe if it hadn't have happened to his store then he'd have found it slightly amusing. "If this is their idea of fun then I'd hate to see what they get up to when they're trying to be mean."
Seeing the little hop from the woman made him smile slightly again, she clearly loved this sort of thing and that made him feel happy that he could help her out in some way. He watched from near the door as she took a few pictures and inspected the base a little more closely. "Even theories would be more than what anyone else has offered me," he told her truthfully. "I must admit I wasn't really aware of all that other stuff going on but I will say I'm glad to hear this isn't an isolated incident and that there's some reason for it. I was starting to think that someone had it in for me." As soon as the words had left his mouth he wondered just what had made him say them, it was the sort of thing that he usually thought to himself but he never said them aloud and certainly not to people he'd only just met. He almost didn't catch the last part of her explanation but managed to refocus his drifting thoughts enough so that he wouldn't have to ask her to repeat herself. He wasn't entirely sure if he should admit his ignorance to the fact that faeries and their magic weren't well researched but then why would he know. "If I'm honest I always believed that they were a myth but I guess this is more than proof that they're not," he said taking a couple of steps forward and towards the tree.
His attention was drawn towards the woman when she sighed and he offered her a smile. "I was hoping it would wear off too, it would have been a lot cheaper than having to have this thing removed and the building repaired." He ran a hand through his hair out of habit before letting it drop to his side where it brushed past Sampson who had seated himself close to Zach's leg. "It's a bit of everything really but mostly second-hand books, people love a good bargain," he said with another smile and a hint of a chuckle in his words. "I'll sell pretty much any kind of book. I've found it's good to be diverse."
