"Well I'll bet, this is something out of some twisted fairytale!" Maxine replied, smiling from the dog to its owner. And indeed, later she would inquire about the store, but right now the tree and the circumstances surrounding its growth took precedence. She had been building theories upon theories in her head, but the man's question brought her right back to reality. "Hmmm? Oh, no!" Maxine exclaimed, wide-eyed. "Not particularly, I mean, not as a rule. What they are is prone to mischief, and depending on the faerie, it can be just a little prank or a devastating cruelty." She gave him a look. "They like to have fun."
When the man came back out to let her know she had free reign as far as picture taking went, Maxine gave a little excited hop. "Oh, lovely, thank you!" She went inside as he held the door for her, camera at the ready. Taking a couple of pictures the siren knelt down to observe the root, curious as to what its dimensions were. There was no way of knowing, of course, but they had to be impressive and wholly magical, seeing as due to the size of the tree it would have to have been growing for decades to be this size now. A couple more camera snaps and Maxine was back on her feet looking around at the shop itself. The owner's question had her bite her lip to choose her words carefully. "Oh I am a researcher on supernatural creatures and happenings. I can do little more than theorize," Without her team with her, anyway. "If this was an isolated incident I would definitely be thinking about Earth Elementalism, though I would have to check whether or not they can grow plants from thin air. As it happened along with giant balls of light, unnaturally coloured berries, street signs in hieroglyphics and the likes it definitely reeks of mischief, and thus faeries. It could have been magic allied to glamour, but these are very powerful glamours, not any old magic user could hold them half as well for half the time. A being of magic however, certainly." She explained. "Now, you see, this is fascinating because up until very recently all my research had to be taken as speculation because there was a lot of evidence of their existence but none from my lifetime-" And that might not seem like a lot, but she was over a hundred years old. "-so that they are here now..." She grinned excitedly.
A little while after all the excitement left her through her speech Maxine sighed. "It is a pity, this could well have been one of those things that wore off, but it seems not." It still baffled her that such magic could be worked, and she had seen her fair share of everything. "What sort of bookstore was - is - this? What kind of books do you sell?" Now onto the other part of this that she loved: the books, the book shop owner, the usual.
