Zach was never surprised when people went on to pet Sampson after they realised he wasn't going to hurt them, he really was a soft animal as long as he knew the person he'd just met wasn't going to cause trouble. He shrugged slightly when she apologised. "It's okay. You're not the first person who got excited over it." It was true he'd had more people asking him about the tree then when he'd be reopening the store.
When it came to magic Zach was clueless as to the differences, he'd never really concerned himself with what other species could do before but seeing as Scarlet Oak was home to a vast array of supernatural beings he knew he should probably change that. He didn't miss the way she sneered the word Faeries. "I take it faeries are bad then." He was showing his ignorance now but he didn't really care.
"It's no trouble," he called back as he walked in and quickly spoke to the foreman in charge of the work. It seemed they were going to stop for a break so the woman was in luck. He walked back outside, his expression a bit less telling of the emotions that had spread across his face moments ago. "It must be your lucky day, they're taking a break so you can take all the pictures you want," he told her as he held the door open and gestured into the store. He stood to the side holding the door to allow her access and it occurred to him that she might be able to give him answers about what had caused the tree to spring up from nothing or at least speculate the cause which was more than he'd managed to get from anyone else so far. "You said it was part professional curiosity, can I ask what it is you actually do? And does that mean you could shed some light on what actually happened here?"
