While it might have seemed like his attention was solely focused on the book in his hands that wasn't the case, Zach was aware of everything going on around him, by using his other keen senses he was able to spilt his focus easily. Most people when they had passed hadn't said anything to him and that was fine with him, he wasn't out here to be social he was just trying to keep out of the way of the work going on inside.
He was aware of the woman approaching and he heard her exclamation so he wasn't at all surprised when she came to a stop by his store. He waited for her to notice him though rather than address her first because he could tell that she was focused on his store and the tree that had sprouted up in the middle of the floor.
Zach wasn't the only one who had picked up on her approach, he felt Sampson shift against his feet and knew that the dog was now focused on the woman. When she spoke Zach offered her a smile, partly he caught the apologetic gesture she made towards his book and partly because it was the polite thing to do. "No bother," he began as he placed the book down on the table. "I am the owner," he said with another smile. "Why do you want to take a picture of the tree?" he asked. He'd had plenty of people ask him questions about the tree but she was the first one to ask to take any pictures apart from a reporter from one of the local papers of course, they hadn't been able to get enough until the stuff had started happening at the school.
