Now that her hunger had been well and truly satiated, Maxine was aware of just how much it had been affecting her. She felt more focused, her judgement less clouded, and her mood was much improved. So much so, in fact, that she had decided to take a stroll downtown to the site of a most curious happening - something she had been meaning to do for a while now. Not only was Maxine a book lover but one whose investigation of odd happenings made for most of her professional life. Naturally, stopping by Bargain Books was a given.
The tree could be seen from afar, and as she walked Maxine decided to curb her fascination for when she was standing right in front of it; however, awe would take over fascination the closer she got to it. "Oh my!" She breathed, chin raised as she looked upon the length of the tree. It was a shame that it had destroyed such a place as a book store, but it was still quite amazing.
Enraptured as she was by the tree springing from the center of the shop it took Maxine a while to notice a man sitting outside with a dog by his feet and a book in his hands. Maxine had already been rummaging her bag for her camera when she noticed, wondering who he was. "Excuse me, I'm sorry to bother you," she approached the man, careful not to get too close as to startle the dog. Pointing at the book apologetically, Maxine shrugged sheepishly. She sure hated to be interrupted while reading. "Do you own this shop? Do you mind if I take a picture of the tree?"
