She knew that Nick was smart enough to put two and two together. Jenny had told her brother about her familiar the day it happened. True, she had wanted to keep him up to date with anything new that arose in her life, but it would be a lie to say that there wasn’t a part of her that was hoping to get a one up on him. Naturally, Nick didn’t wait long for a familiar of his own, effectively eliminating the leg up she had on him. How many people could he possibly know who owned an iguana? An iguana that could talk no less. At the sound of her name, she jumped out from her hiding place. She doubted that it would cause him much of a start, seeing how she was sure he already knew she was there. Her arms were spread out in a “tada!” gesture before they wrapped themselves around his neck and hugged him tightly. She had missed him immensely and it wasn’t until this moment that she realized just how much. “Lie to me and tell me you’re surprised. I have a feeling that mom already called you, despite me begging her not to,” she said as she drew back. It was only then, now that she had made her appearance, that she realized Nick was dressed for bed. “Shit, Nick -- Are you getting up or going to bed?” She would never be able to adjust to his working schedule, and she wasn’t even the one who had to keep to it. Jenny was more than happy to let him have this round of “most demanding job”.
Jenny gathered up her bags and pushed Yoshi back into his carrier so that she could properly enter her brother’s apartment. He was bound to ask , if he hadn’t already been gearing up to it, about her bags and if she had plans for a place to stay. The later was just a formality; she knew already that she would be welcome in Nick’s home, no matter what. The real question, however, was how long would she remain so. Jenny had every intention of taking a permanent (or semi-permanent, in her case) residence in Scarlet Oak. In a perfect world, she would stay with Nick the entire time, but they were no longer children, and she couldn’t expect her brother to be okay with her barging into his life. ‘Nice digs, hombre,’ Yoshi said as he crawled out of his carrier into the apartment from where Jenny had sat it. “He’s not wrong, bro. Your place looks better than anything I’ve had for a while.”
