As it happened Nick was at home. With the full moon that night he'd agreed to work the graveyard shift -- so to speak -- and so he'd been off the clock for a few hours now, long enough to get at least a little sleep before that knock came at his door. He'd never been the heaviest of sleepers so when he heard that knocking it was enough to wake him almost immediately, pulling his head from the pillow into which it had fallen with a quiet groan that was a mixture of surprise and confusion.
"Someone's at the door."
"Yes," Nick grumbled, already working on extricating himself from the cover, "I'd already figured that out for myself, thank you." Major just twitched his tail and watched the elemental pull himself from the mattress a little gracelessly. He managed to keep his footing at least and didn't even bother to tidy his hair or pull anything on over his sleeping clothes -- they were sensible and far from embarrassing, a t-shirt and a pair of shorts -- as he made his way to the door, pulling it open only to find there was no one there. If this was some kind of--
And that was when he heard the voice. Immediately Nick looked down at the source peeking out from a pet carrier and his eyes narrowed for a moment at the creature before he put two and two together. Iguana. The pet carrier. Nick stepped out of his apartment, looking first one way and then the other. "Jenny?" At least he hoped it was Jenny because he couldn't handle anything more bizarre on so little sleep.
