Lark found herself grinning a bit. She wasn't laughing at this girl's expense or anything; far from it, Lark wasn't the sort to make fun of anyone. But if she'd never seen snow before, she was probably in for quite a shock. "That depends," she said. "Probably on a lot. I hear winters here are pretty rough. It depends on how used to cold you are, I guess. And walking on ice will take some getting used to. I hear everything ices over up here, but... they're used to it, so hopefully they're good with the salt trucks."
The fast-coming winter was something Lark had been thinking a lot about, and asking a lot about, too. The quick transition from summer to fall had come as something of a shock to her. There was a woman in the shelter who claimed to have seen snowy Halloweens in Michigan. That... that could be bad. Lark was going to have to find a job closer to town.
