That was one of the things that August loved about Venus. She didn’t even have to be able to see him to give him a look that put him in his place. This was not the first time that she had seen him indulge in an unnecessary display of dominance. Granted, he would argue that he couldn’t really help it, but they both knew that if he had put any effort into it, his behavior would have been different. Had it just been the two of them, August would have likely relaxed, maybe even laughed at himself after the look Venus gave him, but because of Trent, he remained as stiff as ever. He would not waver with his twin in the room. There was a good chance that he would catch flack for it later, but August would deal with that conversation when the time came for it.
As he listened, his arms tightened. Magic had never been a field that he felt particularly comfortable with, and now he was having to wrap his mind around faerie magic and astral projection and -- god, his head felt like it was a tangled ball of string that was only gaining more knots. About halfway through the explanation, he shut his eyes tight, forcing himself to focus on the words. “Right, okay. So, where exactly are Lotti and Kyle? What …worlds are they in?” August wasn’t sure how he felt about the fact that this Fae could watch his siblings go through whatever they were being faced with. How long had she been able to watch them? He couldn’t stop thinking about how angry he would be if she had sat on this information for some time before seeing Venus, though there was no reason for him to think that she would have. All his questions were halted by that last bit. He held up a hand as his face slowly began to lose a bit of its calm, stoic appearance. “Hold on. She’s not sure that they’re not going to be hurt for real? There’s a chance that they could get seriously injured in there?” His voice had fully taken on a grave, almost wrathful tone. He was only a few moments away from demanding to meet this Fae for himself and hearing everything straight from the source.
