'You have to leave your house sometime, Caelia.'
The thought sent a wave of goosebumps down the elemental's arms. At this point, she never wanted to step outside of her condo again, despite knowing that her familiar was right. She tried to argue that anyone who wanted to see her knew where she lived; everyone else could just keep their distance. She even justified that if she wanted to spend time with Air, all she needed to do was open her windows and step out onto her veranda. It was hard enough for her to roam about Scarlet Oak before, but ever since she ran into that witch, Caelia was more determined to stay safely hidden between the familiar walls of her home.
'You know as claustrophobic as you can get, that you'll have to go outside at some point. I know you're afraid, but you must be brave! You did very well defending yourself against that witch!'
"To the point that I very well could have killed her," Caelia answered from beneath her blankets. "I called lightning forth and you know that I'm not skilled enough to really control it. What if I had hurt her? Or worse, someone else. Just because those people couldn't see us didn't stop them from still being there!" She brought her knees to her chest, holding herself in a tighter ball. She was content to stay hidden from the world, buried beneath her blankets, but suddenly her blanket was ripped from over her head. She peeked around and saw that Celeste's talons had hooked into the fabric and she'd lifted it away from her.
'You are going outside today. I refuse to let you hide in here. And if you try, I will do everything in my power to ruin it.'
Caelia was certain that if owls had the ability to emote, that Celeste's would be fixed into an expression of determination. She knew that her familiar meant ever word and she wouldn't rest until Caelia at least ventured outside. She sighed and her lips came together in a partial pout as she pushed herself up from the sofa. "Fine," she licked her lips. "But only for a little while. If anyone makes me feel uncomfortable, we're coming straight back home."
'Deal.' Celeste fluttered after her and perched on the bedpost as Caelia dressed herself. Stepping outside of her suite wasn't too bad; the halls were quiet and empty save for a cleaning lady pushing a cart around. It wasn't until they were actually out on the street when Caelia's heart started pounding in her throat. Her stomach felt as though a pit had formed inside and every person who walked by was regarded with the utmost suspicion. She was aware of every step she took, taking great care in making sure she did not brush shoulders with anyone. Once, she thought she saw the witch, but it was just a blonde woman running into a shop ahead of her.
As they walked -- or flew, in Celeste's case -- Caelia began to detect the sweet scent of flowers. It wasn't quite as subtle as it might have been for a normal human, but she wasn't close enough yet to be overpowered by the smell either. She noticed that there were several scents mingling in the air result of several different species of flora. She was intrigued; though earth was her opposing element, there was no denying the beauty in someone's garden and that's exactly where the scents were coming from. She turned a corner and found a very lush flower garden just ahead. The scents were heavy in the air, but Caelia didn't want to turn back just yet. The moment they started to give her a headache, then she would continue on, but for now she just wanted to appreciate the bright colors.
