"Thanks," Harper grinned as she grabbed both pairs of roller skates from the teenager behind the counter. She laughed to herself as his face flushed. Poor kid was probably here to try and make enough money to afford his favorite comics this week and had probably never spoken to someone as bubbly as the fire elemental. And hey, who was she to deny the kid a bright smile? Probably made his day considering that he had to dole out sweaty shoes all afternoon. She pulled the shoes across the counter and headed across the room to the table Gabby had nabbed. They weren't too far away from a six year old's birthday party, but Harper didn't mind. In fact, she was semi-welcome to the party what with the cake being a creation of hers and all. The kid in question had been a huge fan of Dora the Explorer and requested a cake shaped like the little monkey companion. And that's what Harper did. She crafted a purple monkey complete with red boots out of cupcakes. The birthday girl's mom was so pleased that she invited Harper to join the party (somehow, the woman knew Harper wouldn't be offended).
She plopped down onto the bench next to Gabby and handed her a pair of the roller skates. "Whatchya think?" A grin was spread out across her features as she watched the brunette in front of her. "This place is pretty fabulous, huh?" Okay, so maybe it was a little childish that she invited her girlfriend to a six year old's birthday party, but Gabby had never skated before! That was something she needed to share with one of her favorite people ever. And hey, if it devolved into some arcade games later then that would be just fine. "I mean, it smells like feet and candy, but this is a place where memories are made." She leaned down to shove her feet down into the skates and pulled the strings taut as she looped them into bows. When she was done, she slung one leg over the bench so she was straddling it and facing Gabby.
"Thanks for coming with; just think of how those little vultures would tease me if I showed up without a date. Can you say lame?" She giggled and winked, a hand coming up to play with her necklace, sliding the charm back and forth across the cable. She watched Gabby for a moment before her grin widened. She bounced a little on her seat, her blonde hair brushing her shoulders. She dropped the charm of her necklace to push the hair back behind her ear, the blue streaks coming together to make a bold line in the blonde. "So, you ready?"
