Marco had just about ruined her, Drina realized as she slipped in and out of the alley ways surrounding her apartment building. He'd shown her how to shift without the sway of the full moon and in doing so, he'd given her something to love about being a werewolf. As her padded feet pounded against the asphalt, her nose was flooded with the different smells of the area; car exhaust and garbage were the biggest, but she also picked up scents of people and other animals. She trotted around the building and down the street. So many people were around the high school that she wasn't worried about attracting unwanted attention. Plus, ever since that mass influx of animals back in June, she found it wasn't uncommon to see a wolf or a larger animal walking down the street. Every time she found an area with a few trees and some grass, Drina sped up so that she was sprinting through the grass. Technically, she knew that she was trespassing as she ran across someone else's lawn, but as a wolf she was hard pressed to care about anything that wasn't the overload of her senses. She was also aware that her senses were heightened while she was human, but there was nothing like this at all.
Drina ran down a couple of streets before she doubled back and headed home. A part of her could stay out here all night, running with the moon above her and the wind rustling through her fur. It was something she never expected to feel, especially not since that very first transformation under the full. Ever since that day, Drina had felt torn, shattered even but now she felt like the pieces of her soul were finally coming back together. This feeling was foreign to her, but it wasn't unpleasant. She knew she was becoming whole again, but she noticed that the person she was turning into was not quite the same as the woman she once was. Something was different and she was ready to attribute it all to the wolf.
As she ran, she picked up a scent that was completely knew to her. It was an animal, a large one at that. She slowed her pace but followed the scent. She knew she wasn't far from home, far from the bag of clothes she had stashed under a bush behind her building, but curiosity got the better of her. She wanted to know what else was around. She also picked up the scent of a woman close by and decided that the animal had a very feline-esque quality to its scent. She thought she was going to come up on them and watch from a distance, but when she turned the corner she found herself face to face with a panther. Shock did not seem to quite cover how she felt, for she jumped before running in a small circle and facing the panther again. She tilted her head, ears standing straight up.
