While most of the force was out at the high school, the rest of them were spread thin between calls from concerned parties, anonymous tips and investigating them, and dealing with the huge amount of cold cases that had been dug up from archives since the Light of May by order of the chief. Lux, who was both unadvisable for and wasted on the human barrier around the school, was now going through a bundle of cases from way back when and establishing whether or not they could be seen in a new perspective since the supernatural revelation. It was good, challenging police work. And that was sarcasm.
She had been sitting on her usual desk, left of the entrance past the reception and processing area, when she was interrupted by someone making strange sounds that sounded amazingly like actual English words. Lux looked up to have her nostrils assaulted by his scent (animal, probably canine) which threw her a while. When she regained composure she was still right on time to hear the brunt of - she thought - Lt. Julian Davis of the Fire Department's long ass rant paved with chewing sounds and bitterness. It was a lot to process and Lux wondered how he had the lung capacity to talk that long and eat at the same time.
But first things first. She took a donut out of the box and chewed up half of it on the first bite, then offered the lieutenant a sardonic smile. "Good morning to you too and your desk's over there." She pointed to the one opposite hers. "So did you get sent on an errand for being an outspoken little rebel or does your chief just not like you?" She took another bite. "Could also be bad management skills I guess."
